[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

$6b on a rail tunnel wouldn't be just to the Hills/Mt Barker - it would be beyond, potentially opening up the whole south-east of SA to viable passenger rail. If we can spend $15b for an unsustainable 10km hole in the ground to benefit the false economy of road freight, then $6b is petty cash for a...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

Considering that Balhannah and Hahndorf are at very similar elevations above sea level, that is a very steep railway from Bridgewater to Hahndorf. Bridgewater is at approximately 400m above sea level, and Hahndorf is at approximately 350m. The proposed alignment is at a minimum 5000m between the tw...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

Rail access to Hahndorf actually makes a lot of sense, so long as it is part of a bigger project to connect Mount Barker. The fact is that Hahndorf is a major tourist destination, and the flow of people to and from the town are far in excess of what you would expect considering its relatively small...

[VIS] Re: Passenger Trains to Mount Barker

Hmmm - Tom im pretty sure that Mt Barker is not within Metropolitan Adelaide For all intents and purposes, it is, though. It should be a fast train and should be going to Stirling, Harndorf, Mt Barker, Monarto and Murray Bridge. There's no way you're going to get a train to Hahndorf mate! Ultimatel...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

I feel like Renewal SA got lazy with the delivery and loaded it with townhouses to speed it up. That was absolutely it. There were a few years where they really struggled to sell apartments (the failure of The Standard, and how long it took to sell 354), so they switched to 3 bedroom townhouses and...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

I appreciate the comments! I don't believe Barbara is still with Renewal SA, but I agree that she was really great for the community engagement. It's a shame that the reference group was disbanded and it was funny when talking with Renewal SA recently they were *shocked* when we said we feel that t...

Re: News & Developments: Henley Beach & Grange

https://indaily.com.au/news/2023/03/29/rally-planned-as-tide-turns-on-new-henley-beach-sand/ Should be as simple as removing them. Let the natural flow of the sand and tides restore the beaches naturally. This just seems to be a problem that's getting worse as the years go by. Glenelg, West Beach, ...

Re: News & Developments: Bowden TOD

This one is directly opposite the park and is the most important remaining site due to both size and location. Here you can see the prominence of the site https://www.sentinelcorp.com/blog/2023/03/28/sentinel-to-deliver-south-australias-first-institutional-build-to-rent-community/. Once this has a ...

[PRO] Re: Grange-Holbrooks-East Ave Dog Leg

We're in an urgent rush now to build infrastructure because our governments have had a policy of mass migration with record numbers for the better part of this century so far. We reached near record numbers in the last financial year. While on top of that largely neglecting our infrastructure parti...

[PRO] Re: Grange-Holbrooks-East Ave Dog Leg

Now this is the sort of intersection upgrade I can get behind on! Doglegs should be the focus to improve traffic flow. Not silly ones like the SDBD/Marion Road and Magill/Portrush Road ones which are an absolute waste of money. I don't read all the posts on this forum but just happened to come acro...

Re: Thebarton Brewery Site Redevelopment

I 100% agree that the year round usage and amenity of the southern bank should be considered and is much more important than some lights for 5 weeks of the year. Why can't the riverbank there be improved and the Christmas lights display still be put on? Why must it be one or the other? Why not impr...

[U/C] Re: 120 The Parade - Norwood - 8 levels - 30m

Forget about a tram down the parade. After years of debate the residents voted to keep the gum trees instead,(even though these trees have heaved up the inner lanes on both sides of the parade). Picture of crane 16/9/2023. The residents didn't vote against the tram. The tram was hardly the determin...

Unfortunately I don't have high hopes for this one. If Park Royal at Kent Town can't get off the ground, which I argue is probably the prime site of all inner city parklands adjacent sites closest to the city - what hope is there that this one will? You're right. There's a good chance it's just a p...

[APP] Re: 75-79 King William Street | 124m | 36 Levels | Wyndham Grand Hotel

This site is really becoming a problem spot. Smashed windows, graffitti, visible collapsing interior, filth everywhere. And all on one of the most prominent corners in Adelaide. The council needs to do more to stop sites like this going to the dogs. Personally, I think rates should increase over tim...

[CAN] Re: New Mayfield | 41-61m | 11-17lvls | Mixed Use

The contract on this site fell through and it’s back on the market again :? This site just keeps hanging around like a festering sore  The advantage is that because site works had substantially progressed, you'd think the potential buyers are more likely to be those who actually plan to do som...
