[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million

Nick Champion spruiking the new tower on ABC Adelaide breakfast radio was asked if it could interfere with the airport flight path: "It won't be a problem because there are taller buildings in the rest of the CBD obviously".

[U/C] Re: M2 North-South Motorway

Overpass was scrapped for two reasons: Inability to provide safe access to the tram depot. The turn into the depot is already very tight as it is. Secondly, they need to build a new depot anyway so there's no point in providing access to the current one while they scope options for a new one. So th...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

Does anyone know what the hold up is in the Dunstan by-election count? Because of Easter, postal votes were still allowed until today. According to Antony Green, 81 more votes were included. Cressida O'Hanlon won by 354 votes. https://twitter.com/AntonyGreenElec/status/1775266434425491492 I interpr...

Re: The Housing Crisis

from 'your' abc https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GJ9C5FhaAAAeCdu?format=jpg&name=large I wonder what it means to "afford a house". Presumably it means to borrow and service a loan with minimum deposit. But is "a house" a detached four-bedroom home with two bathrooms, separate stu...

Re: News & Discussion: Public Transport Contracts, Service & Policy

- Build a third track between Ovingham or Dudley Park and Grand Junction Road to allow express trains to pass. If the Adelaide Hills rail bypass is built, that will free up one track between Dry Creek and the city. There's actually enough space to have two extra tracks, so there could be express tr...

Re: Riverlea (Buckland Park) | 12,000 dwellings | $3b

Buckland Park still exists. It's west and south of what's now RIverlea Park. I've noticed as well quite a few of the homes built, have a noticeable elevation from the footpath, about a foot or 2 or there about's. Most houses have some drop from the home to the foopath anyway, so not sure if it's ju...

Re: The SA Politics Thread

The result of a traditional inner city Liberal seat being lost to Labor, most on the back of a significant increase (9.5%) in the Greens vote all but guarantees that Labor will be in Government for, well, ever basically. One Party State. Also Labor has moved right to fill some of the gap left by th...

Re: Riverlea (Buckland Park) | 12,000 dwellings | $3b

I don't live in Riverlea, I was just visiting, I live in the Eastern suburbs. If I had known it was so far from civilisation I would have brought a packed lunch and filled up in Salisbury or Gepps Cross. You all realise that before the Government decided to call this project Riverlea it was known a...

Re: Riverlea (Buckland Park) | 12,000 dwellings | $3b

What Riverlea needs most urgently is petrol station -preferably with take away food. A couple of weeks ago I had to go to Two Wells running on empty. Virigina is closer with 3 petrol stations.. Also what I was thinking, plus why go home with an almost empty tank in a potential bushfire area?

Re: The Housing Crisis

Elizabeth started with two large employers who needed accommodation for their workers, both immigrants and internal migration. The state government built a lot of housing in "integrated" (I'm not sure if there's a better word) suburbs but created or enforced a class system in the housing t...

Re: News & Discussion: Population Growth

This is just unsustainable growth. If the population growth doesn't slow down, this country will not be considered the 'lucky country' for long The growth rate of the 4 major capitals is third world levels. I haven't been to Perth recently, but I'd imagine the strain on their traffic infrastructure...

Re: The Housing Crisis

Page 2 includes a long article that includes a quote that housing construction was already slowing. Nobody (in the article or here) has attempted to either challenge or explain that statement. There seems to be plenty of land "released" for housing. Has somebody done an analysis of what is...

Six storey "tower".
Is that the same as the existing older building(s)?
