Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

Car 3017 has been green-wrapped too. They must be rolling it out to all the 3000 class as they are upgraded.

[PRO] Re: New Adelaide Aquatic Centre | $135M

I think for me the balance is wrong - I'd prefer the bulk of the shallow splash areas being indoors with a smaller presence outside which could then be fully shaded, whereas this set up looks like the smallest splash pool will be indoors. I would have hoped that for $135M it would have been possible...

[COM] Re: Festival Plaza Incl. 115m Tower | $800 million

Looks very temporary to me - they wouldn't have gravel leading up to a revolving door entrance to the tower.

My guess is that it's just there until the paving of Station Place can be completed.

[PRO] Re: New Adelaide Aquatic Centre | $135M

It looks OK I guess and the water slides are a good addition but I prefer the current layout where all of the pools are in the same area, as opposed to a segregated layout (just personal preference though). Moving the leisure pools outside feels like a bit of a step backwards from what we have now. ...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I believe at this stage there are feasibility studies being undertaken for the long-term plans for the OH and Grange lines but most, if not all, options involve either battery or hydrogen technology with potential electrification of only small sections of the line to allow for battery recharging. I'...

[U/C] Re: Central Market Arcade Redevelopment | 130m | 39 levels

I'm not sure if regulations and whatnot have changed, but I know of at least one local demolition company and a large commercial land holder here, who will basically just dispose of it wrapped in black plastic tarp type material. They'll have a guy come in and setup some air monitoring bollards aro...

Re: News & Discussion: CBD Retail

All of the retail units in Parc Arcade have received a quick lick of paint and have For Lease signs up. A couple have already been tenanted.

It doesn't look like any effort has been made around the mall itself, it's still just as shabby as it ever was.

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I've just walked past the green train at ARS. It's definitely much quieter at rest - there is still a noticeable motor-related noise but it sounded more AC-related than diesel, although it might have been the diesel running at a lower RPM than usual. It was hard to tell exactly what was going on as ...

Re: Merger of the Universities of Adelaide and South Australia

Update on the concessions required for the cross-bench support - Flinders seem to be getting a pretty good deal out of this too: As part of the deal to gain the support of Ms Game and Ms Bonaros, the government indicated it would support the recommendations of the committee. That includes $40m more ...

Merger of the Universities of Adelaide and South Australia

Thought it was a time for a single thread for merger-related news to replace the existing UniSA and UoA threads and create a new Thread for the Future (TM). Looks like the upper house support has been secured and it's all systems go from here on: The much-vaunted merger of the universities of Adelai...

Re: News & Discussion: Adelaide Metro Trains

I like it. It gives the kids (and me) something to look out for. Like Spotto, but for trains.

I've seen it in service a couple of times over the last few days but not yet for my service. I'm interested to find if it cuts the engine completely when stopped - ARS will be a nicer place if so.

Re: This forum is full of Q&A cultists

The tweets are gone, and I want them back! And when they are, I want it broadcast live here again, so that Croweaters have the same chance of scoring a tweet as Easterners. I noticed that! The show was so much nicer to watch because if it. I hope it's gone forever and wasn't just one-off technical ...

Look, I think these are a great idea but….. why must they look so horrible?
I assume the colour scheme is just for promotional purposes on this one test train and isn't going to be rolled out to the whole fleet.

Is this the same treatment that Gilbert Place received recently? It looks a bit like paving or fake cobblestones? I saw this for the first time today - it actually looks pretty good. It will be interesting to see how durable it is. https://i.imgur.com/qxUf50n.jpg https://i.imgur.com/sGIzjau.jpg
