Money has always been an issue with the designing of buildings (and many other things, such as cruise ships, cars, etc.). Office building exteriors don't need to be exuberant to be leased, interiors, energy efficiency and functionality are more important, logically, and that's where owners and developers concentrate most of their budgets. Apartment buildings are a little different, with their high prices these days looks does matter. Where cost cutting on exterior design becomes tragic, it is on public buildings. These need to make a statement, not just for looks, etc., but for publicity and tourism.

Anyone interested in my service, feel free to drop me an email on [email protected] for more details.

Cheers,

#35 Post by Howie » Fri Feb 27, 2009 4:04 pm

Duncan Bainbridge from Hassell (http://www.hassell.com.au) has kindly sent us some information on some exciting projects they're working on right now.

One is the Bradman Museum, the Murray Bridge Library and the Wine Innovation Central (wic) building.

Enjoy :)
