There are no plans to electrify the Belair Train Line it also suffers from infrequent, slow, indirect and low patronage thus disencouraging people to use the public transport corridor and not value for money for South Australians. A grade separated busway i think would be a good alternative because buses can pick up people from surrounding suburbs like Mitcham, Blackwood, Bedford Park and Aberfoyle Park and take them direct to the heart of the CBD, buses can reach speeds of up to 100km/h whilst travelling at close distance to other buses along the busway thus providing people with a fast, frequent, convenient and direct public transport service, attracting more people to use public transport rather than the car which will reduce pollution and reduce travel times. The busway will run along the existing Belair Line corridor between the City and Blackwood, roads crossing will need to be grade separated or closed, the railways and stations at Goodwood will have to be adjusted to allow space for the busway, busway interchanges will be located at Mitcham and Blackwood. Busways are good for serving continous sprawl. What's out there is definitely not that.

I love the OBahn, but what Norman said is the truth.

Biggest problem your going to hit is most of the railway is single track, there isn't room to fit a second in most areas. To get to Belair you'd have to demolish houses and apartments in expensive suburbs, and dig like crazy through the hills using explosives. Unless of course you want a one way reversible Busway

Its just not practical, and if it were done it could improve the railway instead of doing an even more expensive conversion to Busway.
