i like the design, but i think its the colours on the render that make it look bad for me, i think the shell around it can change colour, but not moving like the rundle lantern (whatever its called) i have seen it with freemantle colours and then one with just plain (which looks really good)
Off-topic - AAMI for its size holds its capacity very well. 54,000 seats across mainly 1 level. 7,000 seats on the 2nd tier of the Northern stand, and I think 6,000 in Members second tier. If it expands again (which I hope it doesnt, bad location!) Theres enough room for another 10-12k seats on a second level to the western side, and another 6-8k atop the corp boxes.
AAMI could potentially hold 74,000 across the ground on two tiers of seating. If anyone wanted to be ambitious and opt for MCG-style (with bad viewing) it could very well go over 100k. But I don't think Adelaide needs that.
Perths' new stadium is architecturally beautiful. The concept is simple, but stunning and effective for its purpose. Should we steal the design for railyards? lol.
Its been a lonmg time since i posted on account of getting married and going on a nice relaxing honeymoon to Mauritius....!
The short of it is that this stadium is in a general consistency with the theme of new stadia around the world. There are a few of these types being built mainly in preparation for the 2008 olympic games in china...The apparant colour changing abilities is something that has been done before (http://www.arup.com/europe/project.cfm?pageid=2465) you might have remembered this stadium from the 2006 world cup. The process of colour change is chemical (see the web page for details). There are other planned stadia that do something similar without the whiz bang technology (http://www.dezeen.com/2007/09/22/camp-n ... -partners/). There is a stadium in New Jersey for one of their soccer teams that also has a facade that changes colour (cant get any images on it though).
Personally i like the design, it would be novel for Australia!
