You don't tell your boss that you never buy pens because you just take them from work.
Howie is a nice guy, you should consider stop stealing his pens.

No, the weird thing is I don't have any blockers of any kind either using Safari or Firefox on my iMac desktop or my MacBook Pro and wasn't getting any ads just blank spaces. I tried iCab (a Mac only browser) and got plain Google Ads. Strangely after launching Firefox and iCab and now back to Safari I started to see Google Ads with images. Go figure.

To be honest seeing ads or not makes no difference to me I never click on them anyway.

Cheers

Hey guys, posted this earlier on The Pub forum but just to let you know this new Google Adsense feature called Auto-Ads has a mind of its own. It basically decides where and to whom ads are showing using an AI algorithm, so for some people if you’ve already been hit by a tonne of ads it turns it off, and it may also choose to display ads two or three times on a page. This algorithm will run for around 80 days and then it starts to settle down once it works out a balance. It’s entirely a black box and they don’t tell you at all how it works. Let’s check back in a few weeks and see how it’s behaving.

Having said that ads are pretty important in keeping our site running and independent, they basically pay for hosting and the bandwidth. IMO a small price to pay given its sustained us for 15 years now.

That's understandable.

I don't mind the new forum layout, now that I've had a while to get accustomed to it, and the ads have settled down (and stopped appearing INSIDE posts). However, I think it would look nicer if the quote box background colour was a lighter and more pale shade of blue - instead of that bright neon shade.

Can you put a donation option for no-ads accounts then, because on mobile it's horrendous:

Agreed, I find the current colour makes it hard to read.

Yeah i see it too, and i'm sorry. It seems to be ignoring my instructions to display only once under the banner header, i'll look into it further this weekend. It's a known bug : https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... pic/222211

In the meanwhile, can i suggest if you use Tapatalk for mobile if you don't want to see the ads.

Just a general wondering but is the thanks feature likely to be reinstated?

The Thanks plugin hasn’t been maintained by the original developer for a few years now, I’ll need to look for a suitable replacement.
