but is it unreasonable?

we are so stuck in the past with alcohol rules and regulations, no wonder we have such big social problems with it

Capitalist: but is it unreasonable?

yeah a 24 hour boozer would do great things for the "social problems" with alcohol!

If it is well managed a 24hr liquor license should not be an issue. Its not like it is a bar serving constant cheap alcohol fueling issues in the area. If that was the case then other 24hr establishments would not be allowed to trade.

I thought it was a shame that Villi's and ACC could not come to an agreement, would have been a great boost to the Villi's brand and a nice, simple, cheap and tasty place to eat in an ideal location

Bump!

Bus station is cracking up
Local News 18 Aug 11 @ 08:00am by Tim Williams
Tweet CRACKS in the ground floor of the three-year-old Adelaide Central Bus Station have had to be repaired, but the City Council says the building remains structurally sound.

The cost of the repairs and who will have to pay for them are being kept secret.

The cracking problem follows the ongoing saga of the council’s inability to secure a tenant for the vacant retail space in the bus station.

The station’s builder, Hansen Yuncken, says the council alerted it to the problem four months ago and the repairs were finished in late July.

Hansen Yuncken SA manager Peter Salveson said the cracking had appeared in “two or three locations”, including a ground floor wall near a disabled toilet and a bulkhead.

He said the cracking was caused by the building moving on its floating slabs “which has all settled down now”, with the damage contained to the plasterboard work.

“There’s no cracking of concrete that I’m aware of,” Mr Salveson said.

An independent engineer’s report had confirmed there were no structural problems with the building, he said.

Mr Salveson would not say how much the repairs had cost or who was paying.

The issue was discussed by a council committee last week behind closed doors. The council did not answer questions from the City Messenger except to confirm the bus station was structurally sound.

A spokeswoman said: “We are working with multiple stakeholders and are unable to provide comment at this time.”

The council-owned station, opened in 2008, was designed by architectural firm Woodhead, working with Denton Corker Marshall.

Woodhead declined to comment.
I've been parking in the Bus Station pretty much since it opened, and have noticed the cracks.

One in particular at the southern end, just behind the coffee shop / convenience store that's in the lobby.

The cracking wasn't just in the plasterboard. The crack followed a brick line (sort of zig-zagged down the wall).

The area has now been covered with plasterboard.

Interesting coincidence, but I drove down Grote Street today and noticed that the vacant tenancy at the bus station has finally been leased and there appears to be an application for a liquor license.

cafe primo is a waste of space, they have the worst food and crap service. But better than nothing I guess, and that kind space does look like it would suit cafe primo
