Fellas, wanted to let you know that the Commonwealth Law Courts building is featured in the 2008 Dorma calendar. An achievement (for Adelaide) considering it's accompanied by "more illustrious" buildings from around the globe. Some of those buildings can be found at DORMA References and DORMA Referenzen.

Cheers

P.S. maybe change the title to completed?

I couldn't help myself... I love this building and this was such a beautiful angle.

Its funny how at first everyone hated it, but now its turning into a bit of an icon. Its actually a bit sad its a bit hidden by the new SA water building.

Great photo by the way.

The glass facade does an outstanding job of hiding what is effectively a large box with a few little square windows. I suspect that we would be seeing many more square, featureless glass boxes in Adelaide were it not for the CLC bringing some colour and detail to the mainstream.

I remembered when I first arrived here more than 2 years ago, the BeeLine buss drivers kept claiming the building as the ugliest building on the planet or along that line everytime we stepped down at Vic Sq.

This is a bit of an unfair generalisation, I know, but what would a bus driver know about style? Those same bus drivers were probably wearing a combination of shorts, sandles and long socks. It's not a great building by world standards but as far as Adelaide goes it is one of the better ones around. I mean, it's not even the ugliest building on its block.

I know, their comments made it to the City Messengers over the concerns that their words were spoiling the reputation of our city to tourist.
