When I am next in the city on Sunday, I am definatly going to have a look for that. When you say that it is going to be capable of FMV, does that mean it can also do a 'live stream' of a TV broadcast such as say, the AFL grandfinal? If it could do that, that would be brilliant.

FMV = Full Motion Video.
Any video source can be converted for viewing. Don't forget live streaming of some events will require permission from those who've paid millions for.

Looks very bland... certainly better than what was there before
but certainly not as faboulous as a giant screen or something
where you could display concerts or live sporting events,
market the states tourist attractions etc. What can be done
with this setup nothing but change a few colours etc.

I reckon you'll be changing your mind when you see it in the flesh... what's with sporting events anyway, can't we escape it for two minutes of our lives..ozisnowman said: Looks very bland.

Wasn't that demo playing Finding Nemo?ozisnowman wrote:Looks very bland... certainly better than what was there before

Have a look about 1 minute into the last clip I posted. The FMV on the right is being played, and what would be projected on the screen is on the left. The pixels are pretty huge but when you stand back you'll be able to see video.ozisnowman wrote:Looks very bland... certainly better than what was there before

So, by my calculations you've got, 748 panels, each panel has what 2 complete led units, so that's 1496 pixels effectively to play with. Sure it's not high-definition..
But in the end i'd prefer to see a giant display like this, than a mid-sized sports stadium display which would probably be much much smaller and have less impact.
[COM] Re: #U/C - Rundle Convergence
Think it's also important to note that if sports games were broadcast on this where would people watch? It is far more practical to have it in it's current proposed form.
[COM] Re: #U/C - Rundle Convergence
This will be great when it's completed and I reckon I'd prefer this over a giant screen capable of playing live broadcast. That's been done the world over, this will be more special and I think much more interesting. It also opens up the opportunity to replicate the same thing on the other side (centrepoint) if and when budget allows. I can see this being a tourist attraction to rival our pigs!

My only issue with making this a "tourist attraction" is that it is in an awful location in terms of traffic etc.
I think the next step towards creating a better pedestrian friendly Adelaide would be some sort of closing off rundle st and extending the mall to incorporate Rundle St...or some sort of blocking off that main intersection at the end. Seems a bit silly, but then again putting something up that will attract lots of people to a main intersection also seems strange.
Btw, I do support this initiative by the ACC....finally they do something that could pay off

Pulteny St underpass would be good and make Rundle street a mall.
[COM] Re: #U/C - Rundle Convergence
aaaaaaaaaaaargh, they took down the panels today. Im guessing they were put up for a trial only, but at about midday, a crane took them away. They shall return

Had a few more (blurry) shots of it going down the next street, would've looked like i was following it home
