TBH the more I look at it, the more I hate this.
Rather the space stay vacant until something better is proposed.

Funny how developments can be so polarising.
I don't mind this. I like the "crinkle cut" windows on the southern face. Adds a bit of uniqueness which distinguishes it from other boxes in Adelaide. The blank walls aren't ideal though. The GPO tower should at least block the eastern wall out from some street view angles, although it's not a particularly gorgeous building itself.
I do wonder why Kyren seem to be shelving the Wakefield Street development and moving onto this. I suppose this area is slightly more established and closer to the CBD, but the centre of the city could well shift towards that site in the future, particularly if "DOMINATOR" goes ahead.

Looks like this one will be around 98m now. Hopefully the additional level has double height ceilings.
Variation to DA 020/A023/18 for the construction of a 21 storey commercial office building with associated commercial tenancy, loading dock and bicycle parking. Variation: additional level (22 storeys), decreased setback to adjacent car park and amended facade.

It would look much better, but would reduce the floor area of the building. They've probably run the numbers and figure that a more visually appealing building won't generate enough extra revenue to make up for less floor space.SRW wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 9:25 amYes, there’s fire boundary regulations, but in the case of this building, they’ve already been prepared to set back at some levels to allow openings. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t at more levels, except to avoid glazing costs. The floor plates would still be substantial even with more of a set back.

Well, you weren’t wrong.Pikey wrote: ↑Sat Aug 04, 2018 1:40 pmI'm fully prepared for Adelaidean to be 37 levels of average. I'm sure the facade will be adjusted down to save cost and we'll end up with a tapestry of miss-matched curtains through transparent glass.
I am hoping there’s a complete redesign of this development.
