There's a multitude of new bars and night clubs opening in Adelaide so I thought I would take the liberty
of starting a separate thread. Here's a few bars and clubs which are on the verge of opening :

1) Pop Bar @ Adelaide casino - opening tonight ( the 28th Aug ).

2) Atlantis - on Waymouth - where the Garage bar used to be.

3) Savvy Night club looks like it will re - open soon on Waymouth Street

4 ) A new club on Hindley Street next to the Crazy Horse. Looks like Adult Entertainment.

I am sure there's others which I don't know about.

Hey GHS, could we incorporate restaurants into this thread title? Perhaps even just have it as 'News & Discussion: Bars, Night Clubs and Restaurants'. Not meaning to be picky, just thought it would give restaurants a place to live without clogging up the Retail / CBD developments thread. :D

there's already an official food thread. We could rename: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1902&start=120

Yeah, nah. They are still doing internal fittings.

The Stag has reopened, the paint job and interior works have completely uplifted the feel of the venue, it appears the upstairs is also accessible to the public. When I went past it was absolutely packed!

Good restart for them, mostly due to the Cheese Fest I think.

Well this can only be a good thing:
Coming Soon: Fat Controller, Adelaide’s newest music venue

Image

Adelaide is about to get a new live music venue that’s equal parts warehouse party and underground train terminal. Set to reinvent the former home of The Cavern beneath North Terrace, Fat Controller is the latest project from the folks behind Royal Croquet Club and Little Miss Dive Shop.

“I’ve been wanting to do this sort of concept for a long time,” co-owner Stuart Duckworth tells ripitup.com.au.

“The whole idea is a music venue which isn’t genre-specific, it’s malleable, it’s flexible in the sense it can host an array of different acts.”

We already got a glimpse of the venue’s potential last month when Neon Indian’s December 10 Meredith Music Festival sideshow was one of the first shows to be confirmed for the venue. The Aston Shuffle also revealed they would be set to play in barely a fortnight’s time as part of their upcoming High With You tour on Saturday, November 21.

But now we’ve seen a dizzying array of touring acts confirmed to play the venue, from big pop names like Asta, Client Liasion and San Cisco to louder names like Brisbane brat-punks Dune Rats and The Delta Riggs.

“The focus is on entertainment and the experience rather than the venue itself, it’s not too design heavy, it’s not too one dimensional,” Duckworth explains.

“A warehouse is very stark and raw and rustic and plain and that’s the whole idea, taking the warehouse style of venue into the city.”

The space itself is currently being overhauled and stripped back. Gone are the psychedelic murals and yellow submarines of its Beatles-inspired former décor, making way for a new identity that takes full advantage of the location’s subterranean location with design cues from New York and London undergrounds.

“Playing off the location was a really interesting angle for us to go down, and helped us come up with a concept,” Duckworth says.

“It has evolved since then – a basement live venue near the railway station is kind of a dark take on a more lighthearted children’s character – the Fat Controller is now a recluse in a basement.”

With ex-Beatle Ringo Starr providing the iconic narration to Thomas The Tank Engine, the name also forms a neat link between the space’s history and its latest incarnation.

“It was originally unintentional,” he laughs.

“But we realised early on, [and] that was the final piece of the pie that made the name stick. It was a sign I think.”

Fat Controller is due to open later in November

They've certainly managed to create a lot of buzz about the location - it's not even fitted out yet and they've sold out the first three acts booked.

I went to Nola on Saturday night. The new bourbon and jazz bar next to the stag in the former stables building. Love the vibe, music and variety of drinks. Highly recommended.

As mentioned earlier by The Scooter Guy, and reported recently by Glam Adelaide....
Sexy new rooftop bar: Hennessy's bar, 13th level Mayfair Hotel, will open to the public in early December.

Great location, just in time for pre-Christmas celebrations.
... was originally designed for access by executive guests only when the hotel first opened just under a year ago.
But the space, with its stunning views over the Adelaide Hills, was just too beautiful not too share....
.... the new hotel management team have totally redesigned and refurbished the space to prepare for its public debut.

Hennessy's bar will be open from 5pm till late, 7 days. Entrance for the public is via the lifts - Mayfair’s lower level, Mayflower Lounge Bar.
