This may be the project that will be built cheek by jowl with the existing war memorial, and which has meant turfing the local RSL out of their building. They're not happy.

I've been told by a good source that the project will go through the Charles Sturt Council without a problem because Attorney General Michael Atkinson, who controls the council and approves or stops all development within it, has approved the project.

No, this is a separate proposal. This one is for a vacant lot near Henley Square.

However the project that you mentioned sounds exciting. Do you have more info?

As Will said, this is bounded by 3 storey apartments to the north & shops to the south ... the RSL appears to be further
north, near North St.

I've been given some conflicting information about this, and I'll try to sort it out asap.

This is the best I have at the moment: There is a new community hub planned by council which will include new rooms for the local RSL sub-branch which will lose (unwillingly) its premises next to the Henley and Grange war memorial. The redevelopment replacing the RSL rooms next to the war memorial is in dispute for various reasons including heritage concerns. It is this project, apparently, that Michael Atkinson is committed to seeing built.

Watch this space, as they say.

The RSL clubrooms are in a building at the back of a carpark on North Street behind the Town Hall, which is on the corner of Seaview Road and North Street. The War Memorial, at which I have attended many an Anzac Day Dawn Service, is the tower on the corner of the Town Hall, right on the corner of Seaview and North. After the dawn service, the RSL puts on a breakfast in the Town Hall. No-one gets to go into their clubrooms, which, really, could be located anywhere for all intents and purposes. There is another war memorial of some kind in the median of HMAS Australia Road, near the junction with Burford Road.
cheers,
Rhino

I'm a real fan of terrace houses - probably due to living in inner Sydney near Paddington - 100's of them cheek by jowel - this is the only lot I know of in Adelaide. Most date from pre 1870. Very victorian. Great alternative to other styles of abode of global appearance. These have the added benefit of sea views and not being crowded out.

thanks Xaragmata!

There's quite a few in the inner suburbs, but not anywhere near the scale of Sydney.

Baju is under construction (piling & excavation) - Ramsgate Hotel getting additions at the rear where the bottle shop was, & the Thai
restaurant building near the jetty is getting addition & new balcony. Quite a bit happening near Henley Square at the moment.

is this a new building? not very nice looking.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Baju construction has only just started - the renders are earlier in the thread and here http://www.baju.com.au/

What are they doing to the Thai Orchid Restaurant now? It looks nothing like the original building built by the MTT I might add...

It was theirs to begin with? What did they use it for?
