if only the landscaping along Anzac Highway was up to the standard shown.
I agree 100%.
Given that Anzac Highway is one of the most important boulevards in Adelaide you would think the state government
and the local councils would make more effort with the gardening / landscaping and irrigation. The median strip
in the middle of Anzac Highway is an absolute disgrace.

This project is currently slated for approval by the state government DAC.

It is for a site, just off Anzac HWY.

Not sure if it means anything but today I saw gas work crews + signs for Royal Park Salvage outside the Arcadian Property site near the old Le Cornu building.

Was driving down Anzac highway earlier today. There is a vacant block on the corner with Beckman Street at Glandore, whereby the previous 1 level building has been demolished, and a banner has been erected on the fencing around the site. Although driving, I glimpsed that it included an image of a 8-10 level building, that appears to be called “Orion Apartments”. Couldn’t find anything on the internet. Unfortunately did not have time to stop and have a good look, and won’t be in Adelaide for the next few weeks.
They have a website: http://orionresidences.com.au/

I went past the site today and took a few pics of the hoardings. It appears to be a 10 storey building with retail space underneath. Design is average, with cream rendered brick and some greenery the main feature of the building.

There's a mention in the Adveriser that this project has unfortuantely been cancelled.

No, the article says it's on hold while feasibility studies are conducted and their attention is on the Onkaparinga Views development.

That looks decent. Being on the first kink of Anzac Highway, this will be seen from most angles coming from and going to the city.

100 apartments, plus shops in proposed $15m development for Everard Park
Ben Cameron, CoastCity Weekly Messenger
September 30, 2018 6:32pm

A KEY Anzac Highway site will be transformed with almost 100 apartments and several commercial spaces under a $15 million plan thought to be the largest development seen in the suburb.

Developer Arcadian Property has lodged plans for the Everard Park site — immediately west of the KFC and Hungry Jack’s outlets — with the State Planning Commission.

The plans show two, six-storey residential buildings fronting Anzac Highway, one with ground-floor commercial tenancies that could include a cafe, offices or consulting rooms.

Also proposed are seven three-level apartments on Third Ave, another separate three-storey building and nine two-storey dwellings.

It would also have 151 carparks and several “pocket gardens” as communal spaces.

Nine homes were demolished to make way for the redevelopment of the almost 8000sq m site.

Arcadian Property’s chief executive officer Warwick Mittiga said it would be the largest development ever in Everard Park.

“Everard Park is one of the best-kept secrets in Adelaide real estate,” Mr Mittiga said.

“Within walking distance to the popular shopping and cafe strips of Goodwood Rd and King William Rd, Everard Park is only 2km from the CBD and just 10 minutes from Glenelg beach.

“Yet despite its amazing location and quality, established homes, it remains relatively unknown.”

A report to the State Planning Commission said the development would “form an important visual landmark for vehicles travelling southwest along Anzac Highway”,

“A high quality, interesting building which confidently holds the street edge in this location is considered an appropriate response to this valuable location,” the report said.

However, at least one Everard Park has expressed some resistance to the plans.

Tania Mannering feared the development would create extra noise and traffic.

“It’s been steamrolled through and we won’t have much of a chance to do much about it now,” Mrs Mannering said.

“All this extra traffic will channel on to Third Ave, which was quiet enough.

“It’s a loss of privacy with the high rises going up three levels.”

Arcadian hoped, should the plans be approved, to start work on the Third Ave units next year and be finished by 2020.

Community consultation on the plan closes on October 4.

I like it, and a great location for developments like this ☝

Quite a lot of multi-level buildings under construction along Anzac Hwy these days and most pleasingly going ahead with a minimum of fuss.

Having said that, it's still funny reading many of the comments in The Advertiser whenever a development is proposed along here such as "slums of the future".... "will create a wind tunnel along Anzac Hwy"..... "not a suitable place for skyscrapers" etc etc

Detailed Land Uses:Residential - Residential Flat Building
Retail - Shop
Application Type :DAC - Inner Metro (above 4 storeys)

Hey,
Cherishing the thickness occurring on our fundamental streets. Expectation this can proceed through to Port Road, South Road and the sky is the limit from there.

The old le Cornu site is almost completely cleared with just 2 single walls remaining. A lot of material has been sorted in to different heaps for recycling. picture (from Leader St) 7/11/2019.
