So what can that $95m go to? Additional works on the corridor?
Or goes back to the feds?
It's going to the Oaklands crossing upgrade, here's Weatherills word from his Facebook
Great news for our western suburbs and South Road users: The Torrens to Torrens project is expected to be finished months ahead of schedule, with approximately 80% of the project now complete.
The project was expected to be completed by the end of 2018 but is now expected to open to traffic by September.
It’s also under budget, with almost $100m of savings going towards delivering the Oaklands Crossing Project.
Once complete, the new expressway will be able to cater for up to 115,000 vehicles per day.

Yes great news. Is there any idea when Darlington is due for completion?

I thought Oaklands already had funding committed? Is this a case of the Feds giving with one hand and taking away with the other?

extending the trench maybe? remember they found significant savings on the T2T at the start and decided to expand the length of the trench all the way to Pym Street.. although there's probably not enough to remove the Brighton Road level crossing as well

Apparently it went towards the Oaklands Crossing project.

We can now say 'next year', in 2019.

Was reading an article, apparently regency to pym is next early next year or sooner, and it’ll be an overpass. About 15 million in land acquisition. Not sure if this has been posted..

Rev, have you got a link to your source?
It would make sense for Regency Road to be the overpass as there's currently a land buffer of approximately 25-30m north of Regency Road between the road and the Regency TAFE buildings and also the Coopers Brewery land which is currently a sporting field. A new road overpass could be built on this land which would have virtually no traffic impact to either the North-South Motorway and Regency Road during construction except for when the bridge beams would need to be put into place and for the switch over to the new on and off ramps from the North-South Motorway onto Regency Road overpass.
Also, it would minimize the 'roller-coaster' effect of the overall North South Motorway. It seems rather silly if heading southbound to the city that one will be traversing the elevated Superway down to ground level, up again on an overpass, down again to ground level and then down again into a trench all within the space of 2.5km. A very undulating drive for a short distance - it should be a smoothed out and flat as practically possible.
$15m for land acquisition seems a bit light - you could only get that much worth for acquiring the homes and a couple of businesses on the eastern side of South Road between Pym and Regency.

Shuz, so Regency Rd over north-south motorway, sounds smart.
Need to use Tafe land which is government transfer, might need Cooper's land but maybe not. But also you still need all the business south of Regency removed from the motorway.
You would need to buy all the eastern side of South Rd then further up at the sports field swap to the west side, demolish all them, widen road enough to leave a service road on the west and have the motorway next to that.

Is that a response to needing to buy a bunch of land along South Road even though Regency goes up and over?
How would the north-south motorway and a service road fit? The current road is 2 lanes each direction, you need 3 lanes each direction plus a service road likely another 2 or more lanes.
Or would you leave the houses and businesses driveways connected to north-south motorway?

There are already houses demolished north of Pym Street on the western side. It is very likely that this will continue until Regency Road, where the western side is TAFE land and easily taken over. The Makin Mattresses factory might be a bit more difficult to move, as they would need to move to a large site somewhere else.
