Croydon Kings Football Club (aka Polonia) were given a payout of $7.5m to relocate from Polonia Reserve to Regency, just to the north.

The DTPI over many years has registered their interest on property titles along South Rd giving notice to property owners they may be affected by road widening ie a 6-8m setback maybe required. So it would mean no new building could occur on the affected setback.I can only assume the owners who have built new have no such notices/warnings. You would think things like say the new $50m Bunnings (and C&G) have done their homework & can’t be affected.

A lot going on around Edwardstown too. New Mazda car dealership and a servo are being build, as well as a recently completed Bunnings.

All these foolish developments reinforce an urgent need to develop a concrete plan.

Have to assume they have done the maths and determined that even if they get acquired the increased value of the site means they will come out ahead anyway.

Re: Bunnings etc. in Edwardstown, the preference for the Motorway through there is for it to be situated to the east of South Road.

Why is that? North of Cross Road the allotment for a freeway is on the western side of South Road.

Some where near Bunnings there is a new petrol station just about to open on the east side. Went from Regency road to Pymm St not much action here apart from the initial demolition.

a little north of bunnings will be the demolition of the avoca hotel or maid of auckland hotel or both?

if bunnings stays then west side stays? east side goes so avoca has to go?

id imagine even the cross roads bridge would have to be 3 lanes not 2? a possible demolition of that?

was weird that they kept the furniture shop just north of river torrens bridge at adam st intersection

I would have thought that the East side and therefore the Avoca would go in this section due to acces/parking issues for Castle Plaza, and now Bunnings. Things like the servo and McDonalds are easier to relocate in isolation.

Slightly off-topic, but was it ever considered to alternate traffic flows so that Marion Road was north-only and South Road was south-only (as its name would suggest) to assist with overall traffic movement? It seems a massive liberty in Adelaide that almost every road must be two-directional, and every set of traffic lights has to accommodate every straight, cross, left turn and right turn combinations, often at the detriment of general traffic flows. "For the greater good" would be the mantra of keeping the bulk of increased traffic moving, but being Adelaide I'm sure there would be a lot of local opposition by residents no longer able to spend many minutes waiting at ridiculous intersections to turn right.

Cars waiting to turn right at ridiculously small intersections is the bane of my driving life. On major roads like Unley Road, many cars park in the left lane, while others block the right lane while waiting to make right turns at every little cross street, making it very hard for through traffic to proceed along the road. Ideally, right turns would be restricted to larger cross streets where there is a dedicated right turning bay.

yes the right turn onto mitchell st after the bridge on goodwood road om

surely Pym St could be reconfigured within a week ie: no traffic lights, no right turns

even the jams congdon - south road intersection, allowing london road to slip in is a joke

its soon to be a freeway not a road anymore, stopping the freeway traffic for these piddlee streets is costing travel time

Yes to James / South Road - that whole road is one of the most pointless road plans in this state. It’s quicker to north to Bradman, up Bradman and then turn on to the Mile End road than take that road perviously mentioned.

And your second point... haha it’s not likely to happen for decades. No money in the infrastructure money cash spend announced by Marshal for that road. The Libs don’t want to touch big projects, they are looking at cheap and cheerful and not at the big one!
