Great work Norman.

Here's a video of me driving through it at around 3pm when it was open to traffic.

Beware Pistol, there are 2 recent members on here that may have a heart attack when they see your avatar

Anyway, I rode down to have a look, and it looks pretty good. A much better entrance into the city. Our old city is getting slightly more and more sophisticated

I took a drive this morning and thought it was a bit too dangerous, no, not because the fear of people throwing rocks from the bridge, but because it was so smooth and nice I could barely stay on to my speed limit. It says 60 and but I started drifting up to 70-75kmph easily without any effort

Watch your speed when entering the underpass guys, it may be nice, smooth and awesome to view, but the speed limit is still 60 in and out of the pass :D

I find it amusing that the only criticism the opposition could find about the project was the lack of protective mesh on the bridge. I drove through the underpass and it is a smoother drive than the bridge it replaced, and is a bit wider also. The gradient down into the underpass is quite gentle compared to the older underpasses previously constructed. The Goodwood Road underpass (constructed during the 1950s) by comparison is terribly laid out by modern standards - steep gradient, lack of proper drainage and narrow lanes with sharp bends at both ends.

I drove through this morning on my way to work, and I'm quite impressed. As others have mentioned, it's nice and wide, open, and spacious. It feels like a freeway/expressway grade road. Though I bet it'd never happen (especially with the Government fetish of lowering speed limits), it'd be nice if they made the speed limit 70 from the entrance on Henley Beach Road to West Terrace.

I'm particularly happy that it's open because I drive that way to work every morning, so my trips to work have just gotten shorter and faster :)

It'll be interesting to see the effect on traffic flow once we get back to full-on peak hour traffic after school holidays is finished.

So where were the Parklands Preservation Society when they chewed into the parklands to construct the dedicated bus lane?

I think they'd be suprised to discover there's parklands west of the city.

I reckon there would have been a process for all that, and it would have been somehow justified by a net increase in parklands.

Shhh! Don't let them get wind of it or there will suddenly be all the non-existant west park land dog walkers comming out in numbers.

It looks really nice, much better than the renders

Especially considering all the overpasses on the SE Freeway don't have protective mesh.

i drove through it last night.
it is a vast improvement of what was previously there. i like the idea that taxis can use the buslane. this should also be the case in other bus lanes like those on deq'ville terrace.
