Lol, I love that there's not a single person riding a bike in their animation. Probably a pretty accurate depiction of the street given they cant be fucked putting a green strip of paint along the edge of it.

Said it before and I'll say it again. Nothing will change in this country regarding on-road cycling infrastructure until cycling is seen by the mandarins in our vaious transport departments (and by extension the politicians that head them) as a valid form of commuting rather than a purely recreational activity.

How likely is it the trams will go down part of East Terrace too? At the Rundle Street-ET intersection I saw the middle islands had been removed and diggers and workers were there.

That's part of the O-Bahn project, where the general streetscape of East Terrace will be changed. The trams will not go here for now.

Active construction finishes, but the road width reduction is permanent and the concrete fencing will remain in place until the completion of the project.

There's an information booth set up for the project on North terrace. I asked about this, and they said they have been liaising with the pageant and the barriers are going to be down for the pageant. However, (off topic), apparently Santa himself is going down the Mall for some historical reason. Plus, there's no reason why the pageant can't use the tram tracks is there?

If there were a problem with pedestrians, parades and tram tracks, Melbourne would have noticed by now. Looking at street photos of the times before mass motor car use, we can see people wandering all over the road, including tram tracks, without any issues.

Now clowns on funny bikes is another matter.

Travelling along Goodwood Rd towards the city today I noticed a small section of tram track rail has been exposed with the resurfacing work.

Those barriers will only be there for a few months.
Hopefully, Summer is coming and works should be finished by February.

They’ve been a bit confused with the works from Ayers House to East Tce, with the new gutters randomly alternating between the charcoal (as the rest of North Tce) and normal light grey. Looks a bit rediculous.
