Exactly. I'll never understand why they didn't make that path go under the bridge.

Some serious scaffolding that's gone up on the northern side of this project.
Construction of the Torrens Road bridge, ramps and retaining walls
Piling works marked the start of bridge construction in early June 2021, with bridge piling completed in early August 2021.
The Torrens Road bridge has 89 piles in total, comprising 40 on the eastern side of the railway line and 49 on the western side. The depth of piles range from 15 to 24 metres into the ground.
Piling preparation works for the eastern approach ramp, and removal, and levelling of earth material on the eastern and western approach ramps, will commence soon. These works are expected to be completed in late September 2021, weather permitting.
Construction of the bridge retaining walls will be carried out between September 2021, and late November 2021, weather permitting. Work will include the installation of footings and precast concrete panels.

Upgrade of the Torrens Road junction with Churchill Road
In late June 2021, a traffic switch occurred to facilitate the upgrade of the western side of Torrens Road junction with Churchill Road.
Works to upgrade the junction are underway and include excavation works, placement of road base, and asphalt, and the installation of kerbing. Works on the western side of this junction are expected to be completed in early 2022.

Installation of the Common Services Trench and underground stormwater drainage systems
The Common Services Trench (CST) will hold key utility services including lighting, communications and power. It will be located along Torrens Road, between West Street and Gilbert Street, and at the Torrens Road junction with Churchill Road.
Installation of the CST will shortly commence and will continue until late 2021. The CST works include trenching within the road, installation of conduits, utility services and light pole footings, and placement of asphalt. Underground stormwater drainage systems will be installed within the project construction area and on the eastern side of the railway line, alongside Torrens Road and Churchill Road. These works are expected to be completed in October 2021.

SA Water main relocations
SA Water mains are being installed along Torrens Road, Churchill Road and the intersecting side streets, between Gilbert Street and West Street. These works are expected to be completed in late 2021.
Over the next few months, completed sections of new water mains will be connected to the existing water main network in a staged approach. SA Water will provide at least four days advance notice for any temporary planned water outages.

I don't think this image has been posted before. Shows a new road to Chief Street. Even the roundabout at Drayton street is new, wasn't in renders from January this year. Looks like the Napier street connection to Chief Street is gone. Wonder
This says final design...

As opposed to this from January

The left turn lane from Torrens road onto Fitzroy terrace needs to be greatly extended

It looks as long as it can be. Do the lights at the end turn red while Park Terrace traffic has green, or only while pedestrians are crossing the slip lane?

There's not enough length to get my truck up to a safe speed to merge when the lights are green.. And often times people turning right onto Fitzroy terrace from Jeffcot street cross all the way over and block you in the merge lane.

All the side streets that access Fitzroy Tce in between Torrens road and Prospect road should be cut off

They could bring it to the intersection, but then that creates the problem of idiots who will jump in that left lane and then hold up traffic trying to cross over to the middle and right lanes.

This is Adelaide, there's more dick heads with drivers licenses then almost any other demographic.

I’ve been told the first bridge span is scheduled to be installed 22nd November.

Extremely large mobile crane now on site - being assembled today.
Bridge steel girders shouldn't be too far away then

First girder has arrived and was ready for lifting, but site was completely deserted this afternoon.

Wholesale butcher's on SE corner of Chief/Torrens has now been demolished. Link road is being constructed behind this site between Hayman and Chief Sts.

The first girder was lifted into place this morning. The second arrived mid morning and was lifted this afernoon. The girders extend about 10m beyond the eastern piers almost to the eastern edge of the rail corridor. Of interest was the use of the yellow remote control jacks in the lifting chains to allow adjustment of the load during the lift.

On the plus side, with how far behind the Gawler line electrification is, the construction of this overpass isn’t causing additional line closures.
