[COM] A9 Port River Expressway | 5.5km
[COM] Re: Port River Expressway (Stage One Complete)
I went down there for some photos today and accidentally trespassed in the Eastern construction area... I had no idea where the "do not cross" line was and got picked up by security. Luckily I was only given a warning.
Pictures won't be up until my domain name is fixed, but I can tell you, they are great photos

Well you'd hope they'd be decent considering you were in a restricted area!Norman wrote:I can tell you, they are great photos

Alright, looks like my site won't be online for a few days, so here are the photos anyway:

You certainly didn't dissapoint!
The new bridge looks great, the old bridge is disgraceful. The Newport Quays towers are very imposing and all the roads look nice and shiny
I'd really love to see more of the historical buildings get a facelift like that hotel there and put to good use. The area really is in for a change.

Thanks for the updates Norm. Nice to see work still going in the residential development!
And 40km/h over the bridge... a bit harsh? I guess with the 8 sets of massive boom gates, they're worried about people driving off the bridge! I notice that there's boom gates on both directions on both sides, unlike level crossings and the old bridge. Does this mean, once the gates are down, anyone left on the deck is trapped?
Are they adding concrete rendering or removing concrete rendering? Hopefully the former.Norman wrote:

He almost didn't. They kicked him out.Pat28 wrote:Great Photos Norman, keep it up, how did you get away with it
Nice photos Norm, pity the subject matter is so ... bland. Are they intending to do something about the whole place looking like a hole with a nice expressway through it?
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
[COM] Re: #COM: Port River Expressway | 5.5km
Great photos, I have to agree the bridges do look a very bland and serviceable, no tourist icons here.
[COM] Re: #COM: Port River Expressway | 5.5km
Who ever said that they had to be a tourist draw card? These are bridges designed merely and simply for the mass movement of freight between the industrial areas of Wingfield and the Le Fevre Peninsula.

I really need to mistakenly spill petrol and lit matches throughout those dreadful Fisherman's Wharf markets.....er, I mean....puppies, rainbows, hugs and wholesome thoughts.

The guts of an email I received ... the bridges will be raised at 4 pm for a flotilla of boats
to pass through, & the rail bridge will be raised again at 5:30 pm.
