Vision: Seaford/Tonsley Line - Better Scheduling

#1 Post by Norman » Sun Jun 05, 2016 6:09 pm

Hey everyone

For the last few days I have been working on a new schedule for the Seaford Line to bring it into the 21st Century. This uses existing infrastructure (except the new Clovelly Park passing loop and Flinders connection, both which are funded and ready to go).

The timetable can be accessed here: ... file%2cpdf

-Provides more express services during peak (from 2 to 5)
-Provides semi-express services for all daytime Seaford services
-Utilises the Brighton centre platform during peak hours
-Puts in place a proper stopping pattern label (Local, Semi-Express, Express)
-Provides frequent trunk service to Flinders and connects to middle South busses
-30 Minute frequency at night for each line
-15 minute frequency all day between Woodlands Park and Adelaide
-Is not overly burdensome on operational costs (17/18 trains in peak, 12 in off-peak, 6 at night)
-Provides adequate break times at each outer termini

-I have not calculated in the extension to Aldinga into the pattern
-Tonsley Line services would have to travel on the Belair Main during peak hours
-I'm not sure what certain employee agreement policies are regarding breaks, shift hours and so on

Any feedback would be welcome.
