Thanks Patrick, that’s a good question. All 3 of the main Lord Mayor candidates have pros and cons in my opinion. I really can’t pick out of them. I think whoever wins will do a good job as there will be much more scrutiny on them.

My main concern is that we would end up with a faction again which really is not right or how council should be run in my opinion.

I think in Area the the most active have been Arman, Anne Moran and Janet Giles but only 2 positions available so someone has to miss out.

North ward I don’t know how the voters will react. There has been a lot of publicity around Phil Martin and Mary Couros. Whether that works for or against them only time will tell.

South Ward I think Keiran Snape is popular as he’s quite active. I am unsure about the other two positions but there are 12 candidates running.

I’ve met with all of the candidates and will work with whoever is elected if I am privileged to be elected.

We need more people to vote though, the numbers are very low. It could be a bit of election fatigue with state and federal earlier this year and the fact people have to post the ballots back. A lot of people don’t even know where post boxes are these days.
main Lord Mayor candidates?

So far less than 10% of eligible voters have returned their ballots in the city of Adelaide. Don't forget to post asap! :D
I was going to vote then I read the profiles of the candidates

Looks like J-Lo got elected mayor, according to the results on the ECSA website.

Expect a recount however, Rex Patrick is pursuing the issues around illegal vote harvesting.

I had a soft preference for Rex simply because Jane has already had a shot, but I welcome the change either way.

Looking forward to preferences being distributed for the other positions -- off raw primary votes, Team Adelaide candidates may struggle.

With a margin of about 50, I'd expect a recount anyway.

Also, Anne Moran is gone

What is with Adelaide politicians from the 90s and 00s somehow slipping into power without notice... Vickie Chapman, Lomax-Smith, many more!

Happy to report, Alexander Hyde has lost his second election in 2022, and Team Adelaide's hold is broken.

I hope the new council is productive and makes up for the inaction and factionalism of the last term.

Maybe the police will finally get their facial recognition into the surveillance cameras.

Front page on the 'Tiser has something about Hindley Street if anyone can share? I'm assuming it's just the routine thought bubble that pops every few years about closing to cars or making one-way that will inevitably come to nothing.

I'd rather watch paint dry.

Pleased to see this week an acknowledgement, led by the new Lord Mayor, that maintenance of the city and its parklands has been profoundly neglected in recent years. It seems moves are underway to finally pull us out of a shabby decline:
