A monument to the corrupting influence of capitalism, built on freely and opaquely acquired public land, casting a long and permanent shadow over the state's house of democracy?
I mean really, for a public art installation of such size and statement, we should all be paying Walker

If they were doing it because of how corrupt this is then I’d back it but their points and this democracy hub make me want to route for this.
These complaints totally missed the mark.

The watering down and cheapening of the design of this building is evidently already beginning.
Roof profile dumbed down from a slope to a flat box? Check.
Ground level activations reduced? Check.
Transparent lobby replaced with a more run-of-the-mill option, featuring brutalist concrete beams? Check. (Oh the irony of reduced transparency!)
Walker, finding ways to do it on the cheap again.

I wish there was as much angst against the loss of real parkland when they stole lovely open spaces and demolished everything for a hospital, which should (and would) have been built adjacent to the RAH.

Where are the above renders from? Concerning design direction if current.
I thought the whole argument for a taller tower was to preserve views to Parliament House. Reconcile that claim with the huge column blocking the balcony:
Why the hell are there stairs to access the 'ground' level lobby! Recall that the plaza renewal (i.e. removing the cut out and bridge) was about having a consistent plane.
The argument for building a tower to preserve views was always nonsensical, but applied to the previous development.
The order has gone:
1. Low rise building hosting restaurants and bars.
2. Tower with open lobby, to "preserve views" that the low rise development would have blocked, with ground level hospitality venues.
3. Taller tower, suddenly preserving views is no longer important, and the hospitality venues to enliven the plaza are downgraded further.
Meanwhile a bunch of
fetishists insist it will make for a better public space because BUILDING IS TALL.
You mean Viny, who, by all accounts is immature, utterly tasteless and clearly hasn't ventured to the parts of the world where a city's worth isn't measured on the height of buildings but rather the people, the culture and how these meld with public spaces and architecture. Almost as insufferable as the sorts of people who rave on about the innovation of Apple whilst being screwed by Apple who are charging a premium for new products that offers nothing new or innovative but are simply there to devalue what you already own of theirs; perhaps one day he might wake up and realise how much we, the public, are being conned by this proposal.

If I was a developer, that letter features all of the opposition you want. The avengers of opposing everything for the sake of it for the past 30 years. Elites, Grey Nomads, North Adelaide residents. Plus they're so late to the protest, it makes you wonder why...
In saying that, I am beginning to dislike the final product. Lack of greenery alongside the cost-cutting is making it look terrible. Sure theres a lining of bushes, but they could do a lot more. Most of those plants will die in the first summer as they're surrounded by concrete, I can guarantee they will not be replaced.

They will send Viny down there to tell them to stop.
