Interesting roof detailing for outdoor areas. Pic from this morning:
(On a side note all that new landscaping in the median strips at the eastern end of Grenfell Street looks excellent, first class effort, we need more of that throughout our city streets)

What's everyone's thoughts on this project?
Is it a classic case of "the existing building is old" therefore we need to preserve it and build over or behind it, or is there some sort of aesthetic reason?
I personally think this project is an abomination, with awful street appeal.

The Tivoli Hotel is heritage listed so the developers did not have much of an option.wilkiebarkid wrote:What's everyone's thoughts on this project?

But my opinion of this project, is that it is bland, and the materials used in its structure look cheap.

I must say - every time I see this north-western view of the building, I always think it looks a touch clumsy. It's obviously a bit tricky to judge properly when there are eleventeen square kilometres of Kmart shadecloth draped across the front, but I doubt it shall win any awards for elegance.

As is, it ain't much, but let's wait until the front is finished and then we'll give it what it merits. Let's hope at least we get something a little better when they ever decide to build next door on the (City Holden) car park...that's if ever...

there doesnt seem to be too many changes to the building from that render.
whether or not that's a good thing.....

Except that the old Tiv looks a heck of a lot better than it currently does (or has for the last 5 years)!Mants wrote:there doesnt seem to be too many changes to the building from that render......

Well, they might give it a good paint and clean up... well, I do hope so anyway.

unfortunately the world isn't as nicely lit as that new render...
[COM] Re: #U/C: Tivoli Apartments - 30m, 10 lvls
also, why is the sun setting in the east of that render!?
[COM] Re: #U/C: Tivoli Apartments - 30m, 10 lvls
it's not. All those people have been on all night benders (probably hanging at the bus station - drinking licquer and eating vili's pies) and are just now arriving home!Mants wrote:also, why is the sun setting in the east of that render!?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Its not great atm, but once the shadecloth is off the front and its finished, it should look OK. Same goes with the Octagon aptmts on Hindley St, I reckon the end result wont be as bad as what we think.
