the Australian Research Council. It has chosen not to fund the future work program of the ARC Photovoltaics Centre of Excellence.
This Centre, and its predecessors at the University of NSW,
I realise that we are not the wealthiest states in the World, but this kind of centre would give us an advantage over many other states and provide something the community other than carparts and coal.
Imagine if the SA government picked this up, brought it to SA? all of a sudden who have world leading research into renewable energy on your doorstep, add in incentives for the manufacture of these cells and you have yourself an industry which is growing, worldwide!
all it takes is some foresight and a set of large ones.
the problem is I don't think our state govt has either.

I completely agree. These are the types of nascent industries the state government should be looking at helping grow.
However, instead of simply complaining here, maybe we should write to the state government to help them realise the opportunities available. After all, they are human too, and hence are not all-knowing beings. They sometimes need help and/or ideas.

Maybe Tom Koutsantonis. He is minister for industry and trade. I think his portfolio would be the ideal one for such an idea.

I have a few mates who work in the public sector, including one who works for another minister. I can guarantee you that they'll read the letter and send you a response. However whether they'll do something about it....

Whenever I hear of the malls balls. I instantly think back to 2001 when 10 news was doing a story on how the balls will disappear for 6 months for maitenence or whatever. The owner's response to the interview: "I'm taking my balls back to shine 'em"
Don't burn the Adelaide Parkland (preservation society)

Well done capitalist. I wish more people took the time to send letters to the govt. It does make a difference, even if you don't get a reply.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
