I live in Clearview, but twice a week I drop my kids off in Prospect for child minding while I'm at work.

I thought I'd try the $2 park 'n ride deal, however it seems to take 30 minutes to travel from the entertainment centre to Halifax st, where I work.
This is just too slow for me; especially since my normal non-obahn bus (from Hampstead Rd into town) normally takes just over 40 minutes to get me to work, even with the walk from Victoria Square and heavy congestion on Melbourne st and King William st.

I regularly catch the tram from city south to Rundle mall - it's faster than walking, true, but the tram waits at the South Terrace/King William St lights for an eternity, then stops at Gilles St on a red light 98% of the time. A little synchronisation with the lights would make a huge difference.

Surely the tram travel time through the city could be improved with some tweaking to traffic light priority etc?

Just on a side but related point, I got through the entire CBD (just) unstopped down KWS one night in my car - could'nt believe it was possible. Says tweeking could do a lot for the trams to speed them up.

^^ And therein lies the problem. You couldn't get a tram to do non-stop down the length of KWS without re sequencing the lights. Because the trams have to stop to load, giving them priority in many instances interrupts the flow of traffic for all other uses (and this includes a large number of buses, remember). Still, there's obvious room for improvement.

I went on a Bombardier tram last week on the Entertainment Centre extension and i have to say it seems much quicker than the bus or even the train for that matter. However i do think the project was kind of rushed to get it opened before the State Election though because most of the tram stops i seen werent even completed yet, timetables werent up yet and seats not installed at the Entertainment Centre terminus stop. On the way back to the City before we departed a man asked the tram driver whether he could take a photo of the front of the Bombardier tram at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre stop, perhaps it was one of those tram enthusiasts who by the way was standing on the track which is i think trespassing.

Is it just me or do the garish yellow and black Tram Stops on Port Road scream cheap and nasty?

You're not alone in your thinking! I cringe whenever I see them.

Initially, I had hoped they were in early stages of development and would improve as the project was finalised but it appears that this is 'as good as it gets'???
Colouring is unimaginative and they are drab and unappealing. They are a blot on an otherwise excellent project.

Can someone explain why they look so different (cheap and nasty) to the more contemporary/funky stops in the city section? (No dollars left in the kitty?)

I don't know about the other stops on the extension, but the Thebarton Stop certainly feels rushed. The Biggest annoyance is the platform paving, it's uneven and dirty, in that the pavers doesn't seem to sit flush with each other and there's a lot of debris around. There are also a lot of gaps between the pavers which haven't been filled in. It Looks Terrible.

Then we get on the the structure itself, Apart from looking terrible, the timetable board isn't complete, it's just an empty frame, and I suspect the roof will leak when it rains.

You know what i am sick to death of in Adelaide, people jaywalking right in front of the tram, especially at the Victoria Square tram stop where if people actually looked there are pedestrian lights for their safety, where is the authority to catch the criminals who are not only putting their lives at risk but also the tram drivers in panic mode of hitting a pedestrian. The tramline has been extended to City West for around 3 years now, when they first opened there was a person at the tram stop who will catch jaywalkers where are they now, is this something to do with cost cutting or something.

Sounds as though it isn't finished yet.

Maybe the drivers should be given ammunity for hitting pedestrians. You know, weed out some of the idiots in the world
