There will be allowances for a tram terminus next to the new hotel, I'd imagine that in the meantime (until trams are actually running to the airport that this area will be used for a bus terminus... Well, I'd hope anyway.

This was the master plan correct? It includes a terminal expansion up the west end and the tram coming in on the East of the airport. Hope the tram is made a priority.

I wonder if they have a plan to expand/redo the pickup and drop off area? It's nuts at busy times at the moment. Need to separate taxis from everyone else IMO.

The long walk from check in to the far away terminal is not going to be fun

2 Qantas planes broke curfew by quite a bit last night, anyone know why? They both landed well after 11 and one close to 12

It may have been something to do with the storms on the East coast. There were lots of strange movements associated with that. For example, a Qantas A330 being diverted to Richmond Airbase.

Any fines for breaking the curfew? Very rarely does it happen and seems very odd that a plane would arrive just before 12 why would they do that?

I'm pretty sure that the government can allow exceptions, like when a international flight is about to run out of fuel going to Melbourne for example.
The JetExpress must be saved!

This is the best (and authoritative) summary of the basic rules and restrictions around the curfew.

I gathered something odd was going on last night when an Embraer 190 (apparently a Virgin flight) came in almost exactly on 11pm. Last time I flew on one of those it was the Hobart-Melbourne flight.

edited to add actual link :D

Virgin uses a lot of Embraer 190s on short city hops, they probably use less fuel than their 737s on smaller capacity routes and allows increased frequency.

Virgin don't use Embraer 190's only for short city hops, it's the aircraft of choice for their Adelaide - Brisbane route, which
i'll be travelling later this week :)

Cheers for the info - guess I'm not much of a plane spotter as I never really noticed an E190 ever parked on the tarmac in Adelaide which is why I thought it was odd. I learned something today :)

Canberra, is almost always an E-190. Melbourne sees the E190's at least once or twice a day. Brisbane also has a E-Jet once a day. Sydney may get an E190 once or twice a week.

Perth used to be all E-190's however since they closed the E90 based there, it is only once a day (Usually the 1st flight of the day both to and from Perth) is an E-jet.

Why Cr Arthur Mangos wants a new entrance into Adelaide airport, off Richmond Rd.

A WEST Torrens councillor has renewed calls for the State Government to make Richmond Rd an Adelaide Airport entrance for taxis and buses to ease congestion on surrounding roads.

Cr Arthur Mangos said traffic snarls around the airport would only increase with ongoing growth and development — including plans for a $60m hotel and an Aldi supermarket.

Not a terrible idea, however it's not exactly a picture postcard entrance to the airport with the waste and recycling site and various light industrial sheds. I'd like to see a light rail come in that side cutting across the suburbs from the tram depot, servicing the airport and then continuing north (exact route to be determined), crossing the Torrens before sweeping east past Hindmarsh Stadium and rejoining the Port Road line.
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

He said the Richmond Rd entrance could also be a consideration for a proposed tram link to the airport.
