Yeah I'm a bit disappointed aswell

The 5 star green rating is great, but they need to start making the designs interesting for the future CC towers, or the whole precinct is just going to look bland, boxy and boring.

They should have a good look at 20-22 Currie St or interesting designs interstate

With CC1 and 2 being in about the most prominent location that's going to become available in the city probably forever (given that the AMP and old Westpac buildings on the corner of King William and North Tce are heritage listed), they should have made much more of a statement with them. They are boxes with a few tacked-on design features and actually don't mesh that well together.

I still can't believe they've left parts of the core exposed on the southern wall of CC2 - overlooking Victoria Square - with views of the building that will never get built out. Also, the 'spire' on CC1 looks like an afterthought and the highly visible plantroom and plant is awful.

Let's hope they break the mould for the rest of the project, because this is the most prominently located cluster of towers that Adelaide will have for some time and the site and city deserves something special.

I think they're both pretty fugly so far.

- The "spire" thing is pointless. It's not attractive at all and looks like it's been stuck on there at the end
- Again, the glass looks shite, and being able to see into the building from the street is not a good look (particularly the blinds - ala Flinders Link
- They just look cheap
- They're just tired square glass boxes

I'm with Pants - for such a prominent spot, it would have been great if the design was a bit more inspired.

I hope the next lot of buildings are a bit more interesting.

Guys, you're all missing the point. The precinct was developed with the view of the complex from Victoria square. The Southern sides of both CC1 & 2 were designed to be a "Backdrop" for a feature tower, on either the GPO or carpark site.
From what I've been told, the silver, more reflective facade will be more prominent in the next towers, with also gold being introduced.

I'm sure Woods Bagot and Caversham will want their feature tower to make a statement, let's see what they come up with.

The design hasn't been finalised, but it needs at least 30,000m2 of space, so anywhere between 90-120m+, depending on floorplate size.

This was all alluded to as well on City Central - Latest News thread P5.Take a look.

I agree with Pikey - a CC statement will most likely be made through one of it's future towers to make a greater feature of it from Vic. Sq.

Gold and silver facade? I wonder if it will be as shiny and reflective like the Eureka Tower's gold glass, or theres a building in Brisbane (near Waterfront Place) that has a silver finish to it?... Can't wait to see.

Let's hope so Pikes, still no excuse to make the other buildings average though.
