[COM] [The Precinct] Central Bus Station
[COM] Re: #U/C: The Precinct - 5 x 62m, 19 lvl Towers
oooh I'd love a cafe de villi's in the city. Yum Yum Yum. Dont drink to much before hand otherwise things get yucky in your stomach. Ah let em have their 24 hour license, the homeless bums seem to have vacated that area anyway. Just force Mr Villi to pay for all the cleaning costs outside and around the cafe, so they will be sensible serving the drinks.

good decision ACC.
I have always found Villi's pies to be awful IMO. to peppery for my tastes

[COM] Re: New Central Bus Station on Franklin street now open
I haven't been inside, but from what I hear, it's pretty good. They screwed up the toilets, it's a pity they didn't have lockers operating, and there was meant to be a 24-hour Vili's bakery there, but he canned it because they wouldn't give him a 24 hour license. Silly ACC.
Does anyone know if there's anything planned for that ugly ugly building which used to be the bus depot? I'd support an apartment block or highrise offices.

Cleverick I understand you're new here, but please try to get your story straight before you start blaming the city council. Firstly, the ACC could only grant Vili's a 16 hour liquor license, which is in-line with other establishments in city. As the lord mayor said, it would be hypocritical to grant their own tenant (the vili's bakery) a 24 hour license and not grant other establishments in city the same privilege. Having said that, why would you want a 24hr license for basically a store that sells pies? People don't go there to booze up, they go there to eat. It's a case of Vili's trying to have their pie and eat it too.cleverick wrote:I haven't been inside, but from what I hear, it's pretty good. And the toilets, while I don't consider it so bad, was a decision made under the previous council. Even so how is it any worse than what we have currently?
And the old bus depot... you only need to check out the CBD Forum for plans for The Precinct.. it's been on our site for quite a few years now.

OK, I will never base my entire argument on the Tiser again. (I admit that was stupid!) But you yourself are wrong when you say 16 hour licence- the ACC was prepared to grant a 4am-1am licence, as far as I'm aware. (Again, the Tiser, but what can I do?)
On the other hand, I now see the argument about granting their own tenant a longer licence.
On yet another hand, I like Vili's and can see why people (especially poor back packers) might want a beer with their pie.
I disclaimed and said I hadn't been there, but one toilet for a building that size does seem to me a little short sighted.
What was at this site before? I can find no before pictures and I don't remember. (You know that when you don't remember things that were just a month ago if you're already used to what is new?)
And thanks for the pointer to the Precinct, I'll see you there!

So we're both wrong... 20hrs. Still you would've thought that would be ample.Mr Milisits wanted a 24-hour liquor licence but council refused to change its policy for the area and insisted on a 20-hour-a-day licence, with no alcohol served between 3am and 7am.

Anyone got figures on the number of buses that will actually use the terminus between 3am and 7am?
The only thing I can think of is looking at all the time tables of all the bus companies, which would take forever.
In any case, I'm sure it's not many- Vili should have given in and gone ahead anyway. What's his licence at Mile End? Not 24 hours?

I'm pretty sure he had a 24hr food license at Mile End, but I don't remember ever seeing any liquor there.

There's a little fridge sitting atop the counter with a few beers and Cruisers inside, but that's about all. Incidentally, if I'm at Vili's at 4am, the last thing I want to be doing is drinking a Cruiser - I'm there because I want bacon, eggs, mushroom, tomato, toast and baked beans drowned in gravy and extra salt.rhino wrote:I'm pretty sure he had a 24hr food license at Mile End, but I don't remember ever seeing any liquor there.

Has anyone been into the UPark in this complex? Is it an automatic one like the new Vaughan Place? Or a Pay and display like the old open air Grote UPark?
Exit on the right in the direction of travel.

It's the same as Myer. Push button ticketing and a drive-thru booth with an attendant. I was there a few weeks ago and parked for approx 20 minutes and they didn't charge me. Not bad if you are doing some quick shopping nearby.monotonehell wrote:Has anyone been into the UPark in this complex? Is it an automatic one like the new Vaughan Place?
