This site is now listed for sale. With The Negotiators.

Pity. Was really hoping to see this corner lifted by the restoration and hotel.

Such a bummer. The proposal worked well with the area. I can't see much of a future for the old house on this property, unless of-course it's heritage listed?

yes it would be, but everything's negotiable - especially if you own a bulldozer with headlights.

Just joking. I hope the site gets snapped up quickly and the new owner runs with the existing plans.

The apartment boom continues. This one has been resubmitted and IMO is a significant improvement.
Construction of a 14-level building (including terrace level) comprising 10 levels of apartments, ground level cafe/restaurant, two levels of Sleep Apnea Medical Suites, basement and sub-basement car parking; and, restoration of existing local heritage-listed building (including demolition of non-historic additions to this building).

I'm not sure it is an improvement, just a better quality render. The previous one I felt did a better job of framing the heritage building. Good that something is on the table though.

The last proposal did not work with the old building what so ever? Atleast this new proposal has a similar height podium which will continue the lines of the existing through to the new part.

Will be a nice entrance into Hutt Street with this. Keep them coming i say!

It's alright. Looks a bit boxy and plain, although there's nothing wrong with it. A few more renders from different angles would be nice, but it does integrate better with the heritage by having the podium.

We've had quite a few proposals on South Terrace recently. A bit of action would be great, and it would be awesome to one day have a decent string of buildings this height along South Terrace.

I did like the way the curvature of the original proposal framed the heritage manor but there's no doubting that this new proposal is much kinder to a Hutt St perspective. Either way, I'm grateful for something that promises be a huge rejuvenation of this key entrance to the city.

Quite funny really a few years back the council made a big deal about the devlopment on the adjacent corner wanting to add another level to bring its total height to 4 stories.

So previously proposed as 8 storey hotel, now 14 storey apartments - cool. Did the property sell recently? i noticed the For Sale sign disappeared not long ago with no real estate agent I sold it - i'm so magnificent fanfare.

This one is expected to be approved at Thursdays meeting. They anticipate starting in July and take 18 months to complete.

South Terrace will soon start to become quite dense if all these proposals actually happen.
