Possibly because of the taxi rank & turn around, the rear access for semi-trailers to the supermarket, and the carpark spews a tonne of cars in a very short period at the end of shopping days.
.
I was referring to Field Street.

Nothing spectacular, but definitely better than a plain box, and it fits in well with the Myer Center next door and it's collision of buildings.

Ooer, I like how it has an angle to the street.

I like it, the building will look great from distance and will fill up the space nicely

Looks quite acceptable - I had thought this had died - pleasing to see it is still going.

Reminds me of the Pirie St/Gawler Pl proposal. It started out as a nice design that incorporated the heritage facade well before changes saw it become an ugly, dated box that treats the heritage facade with brutal contempt.
The last design for this one was pretty good and raising it's height a bit would've improved it further but with this redesign it seems to have met the same fate as Pirie St, except here we have a twilight zone where two (imaginary) ugly, dated boxes skew in a truly revolting way and successfully draw as much attention away fom the heritage facade as possible. These gloomy looking renders are obviously depicting the best angle and are the very best they can possibly make that design look so God forbid the reality.
Budget tokenistic crap (imho!).

It's hard to tell what the exterior would actually look like. We need clearer renders

I know it's negative but it's an honest first impression. I can understand why they want to maximize floor space by twisting it but if there's overhang at the front it could be casting a V shaped shadow down the front of Gawler Chambers for the next 100 years. It's just annoying when you read and hear of how there's good architects in Adelaide all itching to show what they can do but here we have another mountain of dollars and a highly visible site on North Terrace but the result is this box with terrible windows.
Would love to have the western side plan to see if the 'box within a box' quirk continues or whether it becomes a flush western wall, visually ruining the effect. Edit: Thinking about the dimensions, the shape
has to become flush on the western and southern sides doesn't it. So the 'angled' portion of the building is only the equivilent of 4 or so metres deep?

Now with these inevitable height changes, this should be another 20 or 30 metres taller. In it's current form it looks stumpy, and this is a prime location with interrupted views.
It actually would be good if it just featured apartments. My

So, this will technically at least be taller than the Myer Centre? I don't know whether to be satisfied with that, or hope they start pushing for even more height, at the risk of not getting approved...
