And yet, the user account that had been feeding this thread with inside information was defensive at anyone questioning the legitimacy of this proposal and whether it could or would be going ahead.

They did spend a lot of time and money to get this proposal approved and in the process changed the flight path and height limits. People don’t go to that effort for shits and giggles. I would say it came down to economics and the fact the developer is Chinese and they are having a tough time in the property market back home and perhaps need the cash unexpectedly.

...and they'll make that money back and then some.

With names like SA1 and Dominator, does that scream professional, serious, developer? Sounds like a bunch of 5 year olds coming up with names.
If it wasn't put up for sale, I'd half be expecting the next iteration of this fake development to be called GLORY SA3000 TOWER

You're so exhausting.

This isn't the first development to go under, slow down or suffer from our current economic situation. Times are tough. Things happen.

Maybe they could call it 'rev'?

Rev, seriously. Sometimes I wonder if you're just a rich house wife/husband, sipping Shaw and Smith Sauv before picking up the kids from school in your 2017 Maserati. Keep doing you though 8)

This. The developer always seemed to be pushing beyond anything they had done before, but the amount of effort and time spent on it doesn't feel like a fake attempt to pump up the site value. A big swing for the fences that didn't work out.

All I can say is that we can blame this on the Chinese developer having a tough time with property and finances at the moment. If the Freemasons bail on their tower for similar reasons, something is seriously wrong in Adelaide

Look through this forum at the numerous projects that haven't happened over the years, there's usually a multitude of reasons for it, including general incompetence, lack of finance - often because of lack of sales, inability to find tenants, building costs, etc. Across Australia currently, the high cost of building is a big issue - it isn't just Adelaide. If the Freemason tower doesn't go ahead, then again, it will likely be for a multitude of reasons.

Yeah Nah this isn’t it. Never have we ever had two serious propisals of this nature before. Despite being a global recession and coming out of a pandemic, we still have two 120+m developments and the FM.

Adelaide was never going to be resistant to a global recession.

Yes it was. We were told throughout the pandemic that Adelaide was resistant to the recession cos everyone wants to move here.

That's simply not true... So many Adelaide expats, mostly young professionals and students, moved back to Adelaide from Melbourne during the pandemic due to the consistent lockdowns in Melbourne. Hell, I personally know of Victorians relocating here to live and save during the pandemic because Adelaide was so much cheaper and liveable. Queensland also benefitted from Victoria's pandemic response, Sydney not so much.
