Job ads for Universal Store Burnside now online.

So far it doesn't appear to be the high end luxury precinct we were promised. Maybe these stores will be the last to open.

I have a feeling the “luxury” part won’t be opening till next year I think in May majority of the non luxury shops will open but majority luxury haven’t even signed a lease yet I assume.

Just saw JBHIFI is hiring, burnside must be desperate for tenants to be getting such low range stores. Would of expected a Apple Store to open instead.

Do you know of any other shops that have started? Anything what we don’t already have in Adl? I know Aesop and Polo, Rodd and Gunn are all moving back in.

Apple have had plans to open at Marion for years but at this stage they don't want to increase their footprint in Adelaide. Before they expand anywhere else outside of the CBD, they're subletting the beauty shop next to them in Rundle Place and will expand there first if the demand warrants it.

It's a pretty sad outcome for what was promised but it was bound to happen given the retail sector has remained volatile since the onset of COVID and so many brands opting for on-line over bricks and mortar. JB Hi-Fi seems like a real low-point in this case, but given they are a steadily growing and evolving business that already likely service the typical Burnside clientele out of their CBD store, I guess it makes sense to have them around. I standby that a boutique cinema would have been a real boon for this centre (especially in terms of activating the food offerings on Level 2 after hours), given the nearest cinemas are the Regal, Hoyts Norwood, Wallis Mitcham and PalaceNova EastEnd and housing density is likely to grow in the next decade around these areas, it wouldn't be the worst offering.

Luxury has been hit HARD the last two years so its no surprise the brands that were once keen are now cautious. The LV pop-up did very well but that feels more like an outlier than what will be the norm and the if we are to get lux brands here, that feels like it will be large enough to do well enough in this climate. The village looks great but a shame if the bigger brands don't opt into this. I think some of the larger big brands could do well, peppered with some bridge luxury brands to round out a nice selection.

Lets wait and see.

Even if we had a dozen luxury brands open up next to each other here, would they even bring their latest ranges here? Probably not. Most wouldn't be able to afford to shop at these stores anyway.

Uniqlo and Zara have started fitouts on their new stores.

There are maybe 4 or 5 other stores that have clearly started fit out on the Ground floor, but all are very early stages and weren't immediately obvious as to who/what there were.

I don't know anything about what's happening on L2.

Zara is already open in the existing shopping centre and isn't changing further.
Level 2 at the moment only has BUPA, Townsend Orthodontics, InHealth Medical and the centre management office

The new Zara layout is horrible, in similar fashion (lol) to H&M in Rundle Mall, they've shoved the menswear department into the corner of level 1 and expanded the women's section across the entire ground floor. Also, the next check-out area is basically a room with one entrance that you walk into to make your purchases and then walk out of again to go towards the main exit, it's weird.

Pretty grim selection of tenants.
