Works are commencing this Sunday 17/11 on the Morphett Rd level crossing removal, running to "late December", they're saying impacts on everything from Anzac to Bray so I expect they'll be using that whole length as switchable 1 lane each way while they work on the other.

The bike path is being closed from Buttrose St in Glengowrie all the way to Park Tce in Plympton for some reason, but only 7am-5pm, and just for 1 week until 24/11

Not sure exactly what they'll be doing, since I didn't think they were closing the tram line down for the three removals until the second half of 2025

Likely service relocations and enabling works

There is an RAA Road Works Notice on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=11 ... 3595452621:
Works on the Morphett Road level crossing removal are underway from THIS Sunday [ie 10th November]๐Ÿšง

The works will affect these roads and intersections:
๐Ÿ‘‰ The intersection of Anzac Highway and Morphett Road
๐Ÿ‘‰ Morphett Road between the level crossing and Bray Street
๐Ÿ‘‰ On Maxwell Terrace between Buttrose Street and Morphett Road
๐Ÿ‘‰ Closure of the Mike Turtur Bikeway between Buttrose Street and Park terrace from 7pm to 5am from 24 November for one week
This indicates overnight closures next week. No sign of activity today.

I wonder if this is work on the 11kV electricity line which runs along Maxwell Tce and between the cycle path and the tram route E of Morphett Rd. A new Stobie pole has been installed just outside the Tram Depot admin building with two sets of underground cables awaiting connection to the overhead line.

Can we add the South Road Crossing to this thread and title officially?

The Morphett and Marion/Cross Road LCR, along with South Road, is being handled by the Tram Grade Separation Project (TGSP) Alliance.

Two renders from their site: https://www.tgsp.sa.gov.au/

Also, there is a single connection to the depot in this render below. It seems trams will finish their runs in Glenelg before turning into the depot:

Is that the first render that shows how the tram depot will be accessed?

Yes, the trams travel alongside the bridge before switching onto the main tracks. There will be a crossover allowing trams to start from Stop 13 Glengowrie.

Was โ€œ Marion, Cross & Morphett Roads LCR | $400mโ€ and all the tram crossing talk and photos not clear enough?

For over South Road, yes. The overpass will be rebuilt.

The tram overpass at South Rd, and the tram level crossings Marion, Cross and Morphett Rds are all close to Anzac Hwy. All will be replaced by new overpasses under the scope of the tram overpass project.

The South Road overpass will only partially be rebuilt, the existing station and eastern section will stay as-is, but the bridge spans to the west will be replaced with longer spans to accommodate the wider motorway.

Thanks Norman,
that is what I thought would be the mmost logical solution.

Logical, but Iโ€™m a bit surprised theyโ€™re not taking the eastern section down too. I thought the repairs they made to the bikeway and cracking concrete were only meant to be until the motorway upgrade where theyโ€™d be altering the overpass anyway?

I'm pretty sure the broken span was replaced, not repaired. The project team said that they are satisfied with it remaining in place.
