DeathStar-Like Hotel in Azerbaijan

This is a great example of taking a country which you normally don't hear too much about .. and putting it well and truly on the map.

We can't say with a straight face that the capital of Azerbaijan is high on our list of places to vacation at, but for Star Wars fanatics, the case could be different. Reportedly, Heerim Architects has dreamt up a couple of "lunar inspired" projects for the Asian country, one of which (Full Moon Bay) looks an awful lot like the Death Star. Granted, the building looks entirely different from varying angles, but we're choosing to focus on the one that brings back fond memories of light sabers blazing and wookiees waltzing. Truth be told, we've no idea if these facilities will ever break ground, but we're absolutely certain the powers in Dubai are already planning to recreate the entire Star Wars universe if this thing goes forward.

All these countries that have nothing to offer are just building stupid buildings.

Just wait for the global recession. These countries will be digging deep to pay for these buildings that no one will use.

Call it stupid, but there are certain 'stupid' people (to you only James) who are willing to pay USD$100,000 + per night just to stay in these 'stupid' buildings.

Maybe you should do some reading and research before saying something like that, because although they have 'nothing' and yes, virtually, nothing in favour for their tourism industry, managed to recreate something that makes their tourism industry the country's largest contribution in revenue.

They have the least worry to pay off these buildings, their only worry if they are any, is to employ the right people (foreigners) to build these buildings for them, who are willing to work non-stop, Friday off but working on Sunday, no delays, must be built within time schedule, and do not worry about money.

They don't only build 'stupid' buildings, but also some pretty 'stupid' man-made island that looks like Palm tree (they have three) and also the world, which has already been sold!

Don't talk money with them, they have more than anyone else in the world.

I find it ironic (if it's true) that these countries made that money with oil, which is a contributor to climate change, which will possibly cause the sea level to rise, which will possibly submerge these man made islands. ;)

It doesn't matter, because they are mostly owned by celebrities themselves :)

Heh so you're suggesting that it's a scam to separate more fools from their money? ;)
