I'm wondering if the helipad was instead for a building in the Adelaide CBD if it would get approved? In Melb & Sydney there are probably CEOs that take helicopters to work/home everyday. Is there any buildings here in our CBD with helipads [apart for the NRAH]?

Don't think so. From the air haven't seen a helipad (with or without the big H) anywhere. CBD helipads would cause issues to Adelaide Airport flightpaths, I would assume. Even the squares have little room (are tight) for emergency landings, but there could be other places where they'd land in an emergency like the street or a tennis court, etc.how good is he wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 11:22 am[...] Is there any buildings here in our CBD with helipads [apart for the NRAH]?

I stand by what I said five or six pages back, this building is completely out of place for this site and would be much better suited on the site of the Pulteney Street OTR, they could have their height, have better chance of getting their beloved helipad and if they're separate to keep an OTR in the CBD, they could try and wrangle the opposite corner that remains a carpark.

A good idea only if it will be their headquarters without a helipad. In future there could be apartments or mix-use buildings here in the 100 metre plus range. So unless their building is very tall or helicopters are silent there shouldn't be a helipad. Besides it is possible this OTR is making them good money and they are happier at Kensington.Patrick_27 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 13, 2020 11:23 pmI stand by what I said five or six pages back, this building is completely out of place for this site and would be much better suited on the site of the Pulteney Street OTR, they could have their height, have better chance of getting their beloved helipad and if they're separate to keep an OTR in the CBD, they could try and wrangle the opposite corner that remains a carpark.

P.S. Also remember the Adelaide Airport flightpaths.

Apart from the helipad is it out of place? There are enough 7-8 story developments happening in and around The Parade now to justify the opposite opinion.

Not on that side of Portrush Road there isn't, and there's not likely to ever be in the foreseeable future. If this were on the opposite side of Portrush Road I wouldn't object to your statement but the fact is, if this does somehow get up, it'll probably only have happened as a result of bribing the right people in government and planning.

What does that have to do with it?
Our tallest buildings don't have heli pads. Think about that for a moment.
This helipad for their HQ, it's just a dick waving exercise by the wannabe oligarchs of Adelaide.
There is absolutely ZERO need or requirement for it.
Here's a thought. If another of Adelaide's very wealthy identities bought a property on the hill above their mansion, and used it as their HQ..would these guys be ok with a helipad being built there? Nah? Geee, I wonder why. These guys don't even want other people developing property around their little cluster out there..
This proposed helipad serves no purpose to further propel the state or it's economy forward. It's beyond a vanity project for these people.

You missed the point of the question. Apart from the helipad, is the building out of place for the area?rev wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 9:18 pmWhat does that have to do with it?

Why? It's a similar height to the church spire and the water tower isn't it? There's a new apartment building just across Portrush Road that appears and disappears depending on which Streetview run is used. What makes it out of place there in particular?

The scale is not out of place nowadays, but the helipad certainly is.

I am not as upset by the helipad as it appears that some people are, but I don't think it's necessary either. It sounds more like a vanity project than anything practical.ChillyPhilly wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 6:04 pmThe scale is not out of place nowadays, but the helipad certainly is.

Correct, it's just a certain owner/director of Peregrine wanting to wave his schlong around. Completely unnecessary.SBD wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2020 6:55 pmI am not as upset by the helipad as it appears that some people are, but I don't think it's necessary either. Public consultation has closed, with the EPA joining residents in slamming the helipad proposal. Peregrine now to respond before Minister Knoll decides:
