Obviously the Adelaide hotel market was not something they are desperate to move into - hope it still happens would be nice addition to skyline

However it was previously noted that the Wyndham Grand Hotel on King William Street would be the first in Australia - well that didnt turn out to be true

Not quite, what their site says is:
Wyndham Grand Adelaide is set to become the first Wyndham Grand in Australia and the wider Australasia region. It will join an exclusive collection of nearly 50 Wyndham Grand hotels and resorts worldwide. In Australia, the hotel will add to Wyndham’s rapidly expanding portfolio of brands consisting of almost 30 hotels and resorts, including locations in key cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra and Darwin.

I think that’s just a wyndham not a Wyndham grand like proposed here which is their top of the range brand.

It’s quite obvious that it’s not and certainly did not start in q1 2023…

Article said "construction works", so not exactly demolition and construction yet. perhaps they're preparing the building inside for demolition?

Its a difficult property to demolish considering its smack bang in the middle of the city.

God I hope so. One of the worst buildings to go derelict.

Forget the article, there's unfortunately no demolition or construction activity on site.

We almost need a separate thread for failed/postponed/shelved/cancelled developments that have left derelict sites in the CBD. I know I'm surrounded by them where I'm located.
I think its something that needs to be spotlighted as its a growing problem.

It's embarrassing how long this derelict building has been allowed to stand in the heart of our CBD for.

This article (and the website it is on) seems to be some kind of phony AI generated content that has been extracted from actual articles about the project.

Special thanks to Stephan Knoll for it.
