Painted concrete is almost always worse than leaving it raw. Might look cleaner for 6 months, but will very quickly look worse.
see 33 King William Street as evidence of that

It’s just a rehash of old news. Talks about the gpo, Mosley square and little national on north terrace but does not mention dates for any of them.

Hah, classic Advertiser. Was hoping it might have an update on the Wyndham Grand Hotel.

It also mentions the Panaroma Hotel development at the former Tafe on Goodwood Road, which I somehow missed or forgot about. Can count that as the first thing I've learned from the 'tiser in a long while.

Could someone please post this: https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/subscrib ... nt-1-SCORE
Doma Group is bringing its boutique hotel brand Little National to Adelaide, with construction of a 23-storey hotel at 100 North Terrace.

Construction of Little National Hotel Adelaide is expected to be completed in mid-2024 with the opening expected in 2025.
Mid-2024? Has construction even started on this one yet?

Surely they'll paint the white roof charcoal so it at least matches the facade?

Better than the previous look but they should have reverted to the original facade.

I think the original facade was absolutely butchered in the previous reno, but i may be wrong.

The original facade suffered structural failure. It wouldn't have been removed otherwise.

There was an article on this building's redeveloping floating around some time ago. It was line ball whether the whole building was going to have to come down if they couldn't find an economical way of refurbishing it.

Wasn't quite sure where to post this one, but the pedestrian airbridge is now completely removed from the train station. From todays online version of The Advertiser.....

Adelaide Railway Station restoration works complete as pedestrian airbridge removed
A CBD icon has been returned to full splendour, with an “ugly” bridge designed for rich gamblers finally torn down.

The historic Adelaide Railway Station has been restored to its former glory, with the removal of an “ugly” airbridge completed and heritage balcony restored.

The pedestrian airbridge eyesore sat high in the station’s grand concourse, originally installed in the 1980s to allow rich gamblers to tower over commuters scurrying to catch suburban trains below.

In doing so, it broke up the architecture, obscured views, dimmed natural lighting and destroyed a balcony.

The walkway provided a valet service between Adelaide Casino and the adjacent InterContinental Hotel, but has sat obsolete since 2021 with the opening of Eos by SkyCity and the relocation of SkyCity’s service to the new Festival Car Park.

The custodian of the station, Renewal SA, has now completed works to tear down the airbridge – allowing unobstructed views along the concourse for the first time in 30 years.

This week, installation of replica heritage lamps marked the completion of the five-month restoration project, opening the space to approximately 230,000 weekly rail commuters.

Built Pty Ltd was entrusted to complete the works, having also recently restored the western and eastern facade.

Most work was completed at night, allowing the station and the retail outlets to remain fully operational for the duration of the project.

Minister for Housing and Urban Development Nick Champion urged history buffs and commuters alike to visit the station to see the restoration’s splendour in full.

“The installation of the lamps on the heritage balcony, following the removal of the airbridge, not only honours the station’s 1920s character but also opens vistas that invite everyone to appreciate the station’s architectural grandeur,” Mr Champion said.

Renewal SA Executive Director Todd Perry said the works had been a “labour of dedication” and paid respect to the station’s rich history.

“Renewal SA’s goal is to pay homage to the station’s unique character and create a destination which invites people to immerse themselves in its unique charm,” he said.
