[APP] Re: 126 Wakefield Street | 84m | 27 Levels | Apartments

It was starting to look positive about this development when the former clothing shop closed recently but now I am not so sure... The site is now listed for sale. http://www.realcommercial.com.au/property-land+development-sa-adelaide-501772602 So was all this just a speculative concept to boost land...

The catering school that was located in this building has now relocated, and it appears that the ground floor commercial tenancy in the building next door is being fitted out as what could be a site office.

Maybe this one is progressing and demolition is not too far off?

A large mobile crane just backed into the front delivery area. Looks like the fixed crane is scheduled to come down this weekend.

I think there is more to it than just lack of sales. It's not been really long enough since they had the plans approved & the display area open. Looking at the for sale photo's it appears there is a basement in the existing building. I wonder if the costs associated with filling that in along wi...

Not sure if this means that the development is dead, but the building is now up for auction.

Lots of internal fit out still to be done. I would be surprised if it was finished before the end of the year.

The crane wouldn't likely be in operation due to the forecasted high winds today.

The site was originally sold by the council to the developer on the condition that work commenced by a certain date. I think originally that was 2014, but hey what's another year. The whole shovel dirt thing and the parking of a dozer onsite is probably all just their way to meet the contractual req...

The price is probably just for the base building, without all the fit out required for a hotel.

Will be interesting to see some renders of the development. I can't see any details on the DAC website yet? Is there any other details available?

Picture of the crane from across Light Square from today.

It will be interesting to see how the building looks from this north side once completed given how much it will stand out overtop of the buildings which are directly on the square.

From the plans I have seen the above ground carpark will be located behind the front commercial tenancy & lobby area. The entrance to the carpark will still be from Morphett St as it was previously. The carpark luckily should not be visible from the street.
