Re: New Retail in the CBD

It wouldn't be surprising if the Myer Centre is struggling, given that 2 of their 8 commercial floors have been completely vacant for years and the whole centre has had its original concept destroyed and become a boring bland and not particularly inviting set up narrow vertical arcades. Maybe it wa...

Re: Is the Chelsea Cinema Being Demolished??

Here it is. Burnside Council has finally announced the details of the new lease. Weird that they chose to do so late on Christmas eve. Almost suggests they wanted no one to notice. No Advertiser tomorrow so presumably it won't make the press. I wonder if Wallis couldn't make teh cinema profitable wh...

Re: Is the Chealsea Cinema Being Demolished??

Based on what I have read: Ownership of the Chelsea cinema & the vacant block of land next door is to be retained by the Burnside council & leased to a new tenant. Wallis have been told their proposal for a new lease is not going to be approved & they need to vacate by December 31. This ...

Re: Old David Jones & John Martins photos?

Johnnies was not just a great place to shop but it was an Adelaide icon & fantastic corporate citizen.

The Christmas Pageant is its legacy and it will also be remembered for bringing the Beatles to Adelaide.

Re: New Flight Simulator in Adelaide

I think this may be aimed more at corporates than the public.

For example, the company I work for recently sent one of our teams there for a half day "team building" event.

Unfortunately I wasn't included.

Money isn't as big a concern for companies.

Re: Pasadena Shopping Centre Redevelopment - Multiplex

According to the Target website the Pasadena Target store will open in February 2012. Note this won't be a full line Target store, but rather, their new "Urban" smaller store format. From the Target website: Urban by Target, Target's new smaller store format gives city shoppers access to a...

Re: #Proposed - Castle Plaza redevelopment

OK - Interesting. Must admit I hardly ever go to Kuralta Park Shopping Centre - unless driving past. I wouldn't call it a destination shopping centre. Will be good once castle Plaza receives a facelift - it is looking very tired. Does any one know what tenants will be moving in - I assume an extra d...

Re: #Proposed - Castle Plaza redevelopment

Such is the scale and proximity that owners of Centro Kurralta Park are sh!tt!ing themselves due to the expected negative impact on their trading. Even those behind a new supermarket proposed for the corner of marion rd/anzac hwy are concerned enough to put their plans on hold. Isn't Kurralta Park ...

Re: #APP? Cumberland Park Shopping Centre Redevelopment

Anyone got any updates on this project? I would love to see this site redeveloped into something better as it is currently a very tired and neglected centre. Has a great location & the BigW there is bigger than normal & also has a decentish garden centre - something other Big W's don't have ...

Re: New Retail in the CBD

Would be great if we can get some life into the mall after hours.
Opening up the laneways with cafes & bars is a great idea in my view.
Time will tell if the council can pull off their strategy.

There's also a biggish Toyworld down at Harbour Town.
After years of closing down stores they seem to be back in a growth phase.

Thanks (also) for the pics.
Johnnies Rundle Mall was a great place to shop & an Adelaide icon.

[PRO] Re: #ONH: Westfield Marion Expansion | $280m | 150,000sqm

Anyone have any idea why Toys R Us aren't at Marion?
They are the only big retailer who aren't represented.
The ex Cheap as Chips store (now Cotton on Clothing) would have been an ideal size for them.
Marion lacks a decent toy store in my view.
