Split from Port Adelaide tram thread
Here's my prediction on the 2nd stage of the line (shown in red):
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

It should go down the middle of Port Road not on the existing rail corridor.jk1237 wrote:its using the existing tracks scooter guy, not the middle of Port Rd

Seriously, it's just another prediction. That's all.Tonsley213 wrote:It should go down the middle of Port Road not on the existing rail corridor.jk1237 wrote:its using the existing tracks scooter guy, not the middle of Port Rd

Re: Split from Port Adelaide tram thread
The Government has already publicly stated that the tramline to Port Adelaide will utilize the existing Outer Harbor train corridor.
There are no predictions to be made. End of story.

Re: Split from Port Adelaide tram thread
it's noted that the tram is still expected to go to West Lakes
I wonder if that is the carrot for SANFL to sell land or an out incase the deal falls through.

Re: Split from Port Adelaide tram thread
I'm not going to speculate on the reasons behind the decision. But I guess it works either way; if the place is developed it becomes a TOD of sorts; if it remains an arena for AFL then both the mall and oval get a transport corridor.capitalist wrote:it's noted that the tram is still expected to go to West Lakes

Exit on the right in the direction of travel.
Re: Split from Port Adelaide tram thread
The journery to Semaphore would drive me bonkers, especially if tiresome people kept wanting to get on or off.
Well, slightly more bonkers than usual.

Re: Split from Port Adelaide tram thread
My prediction is a little different. Use the existing tracks from Bowden to Rosewater (Grand Junction Road) and the existing tracks that run up to the railway museum. Turn right to go north up Lipson Street and turn left to the west at St Vincent St. Just over the Hart Street bridge turn right, north on a new ramp down to the level of the existing railway at Glanville. Then turn left to the west at Semaphore Rd and straight down to the beach.
Between Woodville and Cheltenham, just south of Cheltenham Pde, is a new station St Clair. Between Alberton and Glanville are 3 new stations: Rosewater (at Grand Junction Road), Port South (on Lipson St), Port North (on St Vincent St) and New Port (on Hart St bridge). After Glanville are 2 stations Exeter and Semaphore.
