Re: News & Discussion: Trams
Now we are talking tram numbers and expense, does anyone know how many trams were used at the height of the original system - seems like they were everywhere. Will be some guide to the rebuilt system as well as expenses. ADELAIDE - TOWARDS A GREATER CITY SKYLINE Drastically different situation and ...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
The big drawback with tunnels and trenches is that, in the future when demand has increased and the road has reached capacity, they cannot be easily widened to accomodate extra lanes. So it is deirable that you make them extra wide to future proof them. For that reason, 6 lanes for the inner city s...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Dollar for dollar maybe, but then you have an 80+ metre wide corridor through a prime inner metro location. How does that stack up against the 30 year plan? I do not see an issue. It would be a greatly improved area compared to what it is currently. Locals should be pleased by the significantly red...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Good insight claybro. 1.5km could get under Henley Beach and Sir Don. That would be a good outcome. But it is still cheaper to not tunnel and instead buy the land and bulldoze the properties. We only need 2 super short tunnels to save heritage buildings. Where would the vents go? The surface South ...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Tunnels are not an ideal soloution in routes carrying large volumes of frieght, as many toxic loads are not permitted in long tunnels. Think, chemicals, certain gasses, hospital and industrial waste all would be banned in a 10km tunnel. The only section that would really warrant the expense of a tu...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Is there any reason why a tunnel bored deep enough couldn't take any path it wanted and pass under existing buildings/homes etc? This would save a fortune in property resumptions. Think the Clem Jones tunnel, Brisbane. The distance from say Brickworks, Torrensville to Tonsley is about 10kms. This w...

[U/C] Re: News & Discussion: South Road / North-South Corridor
Would the South Road tunnel section between Anzac and Port Road absolutely have to be 6 lanes? Seems like there would be less demand on this section with a large amount of CBD traffic entering/exiting at these pints for/from the South and North respectively. Yes it should. Currently over 40,000 veh...

Welcome to the forum, Ser Noit of Loit! To expand on what rev said, a few pages back I put this together. [COM] Re: Renaissance Arcade | 132m | 40lvls | Realm Apartments
Is there any word on a retail component to this development? The Renaissance Arcade in its current state is quite tardy, however some of the food outlets are pretty good. I am thinking something along the lines of the Emporium in Melbourne. It is an area ripe for a new retail precinct with the Univ...
