I recieved an email about the opening of the display suite in May and they will be having a launch party. They have recieved over 600 expressions of interest.
I'm somewhat concerned with what looks ike commie blocks though :/

Just got the email too. Finally some movement. Bit pricy though - 1 bedroom from $349k, and 2 bedrooms from $499k. The example 1bed floor plan they include has a total floorspace of just 62.4m2 (56.1m2 internal + 7.3m2 balcony)
It's hard to tell from such a zoomed out render, but I *think* it's still the same design as on page 1 of this thread. I don't think they'll end up as commie blocks.

I hope this doesn't make it similar to Precinct

Here's the 1bed floor plan for those interested:
http://newmayfield.com.au/new-mayfield-A103-A303.pdf
Not exactly the most useful space. As usual, no consideration that people might have, say, a bookcase. The only good place to put the couch is where they've shown - facing straight out to the balcony (not the wall where the TV is). And the laundry space sharing with the study? I hope the 2 bedroom apartments are little more realistic (especially at the asking price).

sadly, this all looks like it is leading to the "oaks mayfield" when they dont sell at that price. They could only hope that they sell off the plan to people who cant read plans because it is way over priced for what is essentially the current standard for student accom. makes the ipad apartments on west terrace look a bargain.

At those prices it won't get off the ground unfortunately. When are developers going to realize that no one is going to pay $349 000 for a 70sqm apartment?

Ugh, that's a terrible floorplan! Sheer laziness on the part of the designers. I live in an approx 70sqm apartment myself and it's far more workable than that abomination.
It's = it is; its = everything else.
You're = you are; your = belongs to.
Than = comparative ("bigger than"); then = next.

I would be curious to know why the costs are so high? is it the infrastructure they will be putting in? the land costs or the development costs?
a 1 bedroom place like that just appears so damn expensive.

As a single young professional working in the city, i am completely priced out of this Development!
The Council development across the rd isn't much better, offering 1br shoeboxes (53.2sqm TOTAL) that are within my price affordability, though I refuse to buy.
New Mayfield are going to have to do something to drum up interest in this development before the foreign investment/speculators grant (HCG) ceases in June this year ($8500). Unless of course our Government continues to provide grants that actually drive up the cost of housing...

You'd think apartment developers would learn from the recent mistakes of other developmentsn that haven't sold well???!!
It's a good location but not exactly a prestige location. Both 1 and 2br prices need to come down by $100k each before they will sell ...

There is some movement on Sturt St--they are renovating a section of the old Mayfield building --inside and outside. Its on the corner of Sturt St and Meyers Lane. Anyone know what this renovation means? An office for the builders to work in?

Stage 1 release launch will be on 8th June, with a pre-launch event (for "registered VIPs") on the 4th.

So for an extra bedroom it costs $150,000?
