Beaumont tiles is vacating the 3 buildings it occupies
near Grote street. The number of business that have vacated franklin street and grote street over the last couple of years is frightening.

Without tenants moving premises there would be no development. Beaumont tiles last premises is currently home to Adelaide newest 21 storey apartment building... I guess if i were to be a pessimist and all round negative Nancy I would see things frighteningly differently.

Beaumont Tiles didn't close down, they just relocated to the Valley of Death. Bulky goods retailers shouldn't be in the city anyway.

Marcs on Rundle Street and David Lawrence in Rundle Place have both closed down as both recently went into administration and have now been bought out by Myer.

The former Fone Zone on Cnr Franklin St/Morphett St is finally undergoing some works after standing vacant for five years.
For starters, my avatar is the well-known Adelaide Aquatic Centre insignia from 1989.

Additionally you can see some old ghost signs under the tarps. I couldn't get a photo that showed them sadly, but they are advertising swimming and other fitness activities from when this was one of Adelaide's first gyms back in the 1970s(1960s? I don't know the exact time - second hand info from my dad).

Wok-In-A-Box on North Tce has closed after approximately 12 years.

I think I am right, Jay Weatherwill has done more damage than rectification.

Or perhaps in 12 years since opening, the quality of food offerings in Adelaide has vastly improved and therefore cheap and cheerful places like Wok in a Box which haven't kept up can no longer compete?

Also, not really sure what place an Asian fast food joint has on our prime cultural boulevard.

LOL. Blaming the premier for one store of a fast food franchise closing.

Couldn't possibly have anything to do with uni students no longer needing to cross North Tce to get lunch due to vastly improved food offerings on campus.

You'd have to hope that the RMP management have some sort of long term plan for their retail space.

Makes me wonder whether they're deliberately clearing the place out for a renovation.

I was starting to change my position on this after I saw the shoe shop near the back door close down.

Adding to the Rundle Mall Plaza exodus, Jam Factory are not renewing their lease. Last day 6th May (with 20-40% off leading up).
