.............The Port River Expressway Stages 2 & 3 project - undertaken by the Department for Transport, Energy & Infrastructure, Abigroup Contractors, DSC-SMEC, AECOM and Hardesty & Hanover International - was the joint winner of the SA Malcolm Kinnaird Engineering Excellence Award.
Stage 2 comprises the road bridge - a high-level four-lane single leaf bascule opening bridge with separated pedestrian and cyclist access.
Stage 3 is a single leaf rail bascule bridge, supporting a single track dual -gauge rail line for both standard and broad gauge usage.
