Re: Beer Garden
Only 5 hours or so until the Royal plane arrives in Adelaide. We've had some trouble getting through to local officials - could someone arrange for us to be met by Her Majesty's drums, sackbutts and cornets? And Corelli only please, none of that modern Handel rubbish.

Could you all shut the curtains and stop talking? The world is far too loud and sunny.

Re: Beer Garden
so apparently the americans visited the Moon a few decades ago. Has anyone ever taken a photo (maybe from hubble or other earth orbitting satellite) actually showing their flag on the lunar surface...
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Re: Beer Garden
It's not that easy, as the landing site was on the other side of the moon. The moon always presents the same side to the earth (that's why we can always see the "man in the moon"), so photographing the site had to wait until just last year when NASA sent the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter for a lap of the moon. The photos aren't that exciting, but here's your flag:Wayno wrote:so apparently the americans visited the Moon a few decades ago. Other details can be found here.
Re: Beer Garden
i did not know that. I wonder why they landed on the other side? hmm, thinking further - i seem to remember images of the lunar landing where the earth was in view (at least partial view)...Prince George wrote:It's not that easy, as the landing site was on the other side of the moon.

Re: Beer Garden
They did not land "on the other side" there's no radio reception back to mission control on the "dark side of the Moon". They landed on the side facing the Earth, in a different place each mission.

I'm standing in Rundle Mall. The sun is warm but the breeze is cool. There's crowds of people, young couples, groups and all sorts. There's buskers providing a nice ambiance.
And all the shops are closed...
Stupid backwards town.

Re: Beer Garden
How is that backwards? It's after 5 on a Saturday. You've had since 9am to shop. It's now party time. Head on down to Rundle Street.AtD wrote:I'm standing in Rundle Mall. If you were in LA on ANY day the shops would be open until 6pm, but they only opened at 10am.
If it were 12 midday Sunday and you were in Perth the shops would be firmly shut.
The recent xmas period saw some shops choose to open later and others not. THAT'S what caused the confusion, uncertainty.
Just because you want to shop at some weird hour doesn't make Adelaide backward.

Adam, I'm curious to know what triggered this brain explosion? You are usually one of the first to label someone who makes such a statement a troll.AtD wrote:I'm standing in Rundle Mall.
