Since we are on the topic of Christmas gifts, a younger first cousin just got his P's last month, and as his birthday falls a week before Christmas, his father is buying him a car.
He's been raving on how he will do this and that, but his parents have said to mine, they don't want him to go spending all his money on car stereos and wheels and what not. So we thought we would help lighten the burden, and buy the kid some of the parts, in this case, a deck.
However today I saw in the mail a Strathfield catalogue and they have a "Sony Pack" for $599, $262 off rrp.
It includes the deck(mp3 cd tuner) with triple rca & aux input for iPod(he has one), 2 6" 2way 190w speakers, 2 6x9" 3way 300w speakers, 4chan 600w amp, and a 12" 1000w sub in a box. All Sony parts obviously.
The other pack is a Kenwood for $999, $643 off rrp.
200w MP3 front usb & front aux ports cd tuner, 2 6" 3way 260w speakers, 2 6x9" 3 way 350w speakers, 4chan 720w amp, 1000w Class D mono bloc amp, and dual 12" 1200w subs in a box.
I'm just wondering, particularly about the Sony Pack as that's a possibility, if its a good "system", or would it be better to just get each component seperately?
The catalogue doesn't have a big range printed, but from the looks of it, the Sony pack seems like a good deal, the one Sony deck they have listed is $229.
All I have in my car is a Pioneer mp3/cd tuner deck, a couple 6inches and 6x9's. None of this amp and sub business. I believe mono bloc amps are for subs? Whats the class D all about?
And if the sub is 1200w, how is a 1000w amp suitable?
