Catch of the Day!

If you can't think of anything to buy for Christmas presents, here's one you might consider. The new 4th generation Apple iPhone Nano 8GB is selling for only $177 at Harvey Norman across Australia.

That to me, is an unbelievable bargain. It is selling from between $194 in Big W to $199 at Dick Smith (comes with aftermarket dock), but at $177, I don't think you could get it any cheaper up until Christmas.

I just bought one as a Christmas present for my girlfriend (she has been nagging me for months now to get one for her). Anyway, you guys might want to drop by the new Harvey Norman retail store at Port Rd (Chelthenam, besides Bunnings Warehouse), it's an awesome place to visit, they sell everything from furniture, beddings, computers and electrical and it's huge too.

You think that's cheap?

Just a little insider information - Wait until mid-December. That's when prices will drop like crazy.

Even worse :D

I have a phone, it plays MP3s. Why would I want to carry two devices when one will do?

Nah I hardly buy stuffs from Harvey Norman when usually their RRP are 2-5% higher than others. But I thought at $177, I haven't seen it any cheaper elsewhere, for now. However, when there is great deals around, I love to share them in the forum, just when the 500GB External Hard drive was sold for only $158 earlier this year (they were very rare at the time)

Did you know recent survey found that more than 80% of iPhone users are female?

Yeah man, it's for my partner, you know ladies are into Apple stuffs more than men do. Not sure what Walkmans are we talking about here (as in the name or the actual cassette player), but Sony's MP3 player are still considered as Walkman as I think they are the first company to produce Walkman 20 years ago lol. But Sony's Walkman sound quality (as well as the earphones) shits over the Apple's poopy earphones. ACC files (Apples music files) are a further compression of the already compressed MP3 format, so they are NEVER going to sound better than any MP3 players.

Since when would you need to carry 40GB of music? My phone currently has 4GB. That's like 40 days of continuous music...

Now my phone also plays videos, That's only 10 hours of video... (sarcasm) oh what ever shall I do? (/sarcasm)

Since we are on the topic of Christmas gifts, a younger first cousin just got his P's last month, and as his birthday falls a week before Christmas, his father is buying him a car.
He's been raving on how he will do this and that, but his parents have said to mine, they don't want him to go spending all his money on car stereos and wheels and what not. So we thought we would help lighten the burden, and buy the kid some of the parts, in this case, a deck.
However today I saw in the mail a Strathfield catalogue and they have a "Sony Pack" for $599, $262 off rrp.
It includes the deck(mp3 cd tuner) with triple rca & aux input for iPod(he has one), 2 6" 2way 190w speakers, 2 6x9" 3way 300w speakers, 4chan 600w amp, and a 12" 1000w sub in a box. All Sony parts obviously.
The other pack is a Kenwood for $999, $643 off rrp.
200w MP3 front usb & front aux ports cd tuner, 2 6" 3way 260w speakers, 2 6x9" 3 way 350w speakers, 4chan 720w amp, 1000w Class D mono bloc amp, and dual 12" 1200w subs in a box.

I'm just wondering, particularly about the Sony Pack as that's a possibility, if its a good "system", or would it be better to just get each component seperately?
The catalogue doesn't have a big range printed, but from the looks of it, the Sony pack seems like a good deal, the one Sony deck they have listed is $229.

All I have in my car is a Pioneer mp3/cd tuner deck, a couple 6inches and 6x9's. None of this amp and sub business. I believe mono bloc amps are for subs? Whats the class D all about?
And if the sub is 1200w, how is a 1000w amp suitable?

Hey, now don't go being Zune hater, Zune could've done more for South Australian industry. And the Walkman name is coming back - although a bit too late now. Sony dropped the ball there: like Xerox meaning copiers and Motorola meaning mobile phone, they simply missed the changing tide.

Have to agree here, my wife has the 4g 16g nano and I have the 8gb Sony Walkman. The Sony sh1ts all over the iPod as far as sound quality & battery life. iPods are for chicks, and people who prefer style over substance. What worse, iTunes sux dogs balls. I much prefer the drag and drop method of updating files.

iPod Classic 80gB will always be the best - huge drive for music & videos, I have several podcasts on it. Whilst the battery life is poor - about 2 days in between recharges, my mobile phone is worse - I have to charge that nightly. But then again I fucked up my phone to oblivion (putting it in a punch bowl to see if it would float?) :P Anyways, I love my Classic and I wouldn't trade it for the Nano, iPhone or iTouch that iHate.

Since Nokia just released the N97 with 32gb of onboard memory, up to 48gb with a 16gb micro sd card. :D
And I was about to go buy the Nokia E66. Might wait for this to hit Australia.
